Is this "BLM plaza"? That was a waste of money, considering that DC can't even repaint many crosswalks.

“The district has had 216 homicides this year, 38 percent more than at this point in 2022”

“By contrast, killings are down this year in big cities from coast to coast: by 24 percent in Los Angeles, 19 percent in Houston, 18 percent in Philadelphia, 12 percent in Chicago and 11 percent in New York City.”

Owners of Right Proper tell WSJ theyre leaving Shaw because the crime is out of hand

One of these cities is doing it's own thing...

In DC we all tout our walkable neighborhoods, the downside is when a sociopath deliberately reverses then drives a truck into children in broad daylight as they are walking with their mom and pet on Capitol Hill.

I think a lot of us are working hard to be in denial about how dangerous many of those who walk and drive among us are.

Warning, hard to watch

The general vibe of lawlessness and politicians ignoring or enabling it pose real dangers.

Why is this not a story on WTOP, NBC4, etc.?!

You can look to see if it was, or tweet at reporters and ask. But rather than diverting, the refusal to target carjacking and other moving vehicle offenses puts everyone walking, biking and driving at risk. Yet, it is not acknowledged. This was a very deliberate act against children.

A bunch of businesses are leaving Shaw because of the crime

Our elected leaders would rather talk about bike lanes and pickleball than murders being up 40 percent

The city has turned its back on its citizens

What will be left for the hipsters to walk to?

We are probably better off. Those they "claim" to champion are being shot and killed in soaring numbers.

That's not what that means. It's more nuanced but they didn't have enough paint.

It's not the worst crime, but it is nevertheless astounding that car thefts this year are up by 103 percent.

What’s the story?

Video shows a driver who proceeded through a 4-way stop and stupidly wasn’t paying attention. Video also shows pedestrians stupidly crossing the street not paying attention. A collision ensues, a child gets hurt, and the driver speeds off.

Not worth air time.

Wow. Read the story. The mother reportedly locked eyes with the driver before proceeding into the crosswalk.

I mean, I know people on this site don't care about human life, but come on....
