Too bad kids never get school breaks, so this is the only option!

Have your kids never missed a day of school?

Not for Disney. Kids get a lot of days off.

Your kid is going to end up in the same place as my kid, but my kid will have gone to disney

Don’t miss school for this! Go over a break. No need to miss school. It’s more enjoyable to go over a break. No catch up for the kid when they return.

Once again: KIDS GET SCHOOL BREAKS.

Do you seriously not understand the concept of vacationing during breaks?

Yes. My 6 year old is so jealous of your kid’s Disney trip, given that in her 6 years of life, she’s been to:

- WDW 4 times
- England
- Italy
- Sweden
- Estonia
- Finland
- Arizona
- California
- NYC countless times
- Hawaii twice

But yep. Jealousy is definitely it, because as you’ve so rightly implied, it’s not possible to go on good trips unless your kid misses school.

So clearly you’re teaching your kid international travel for her snowflake self is more important than the destruction of our planet. Isn’t that nice.

Were those goalposts heavy to move?

Let’s just be real. You’re fine with destroying the planet but for some reason really fixated on a few missed days in elementary school. You’re not actually morally superior (quite the opposite) so sit down.

Agreed

Lol ok. And yet you all defend your flights to Disney. Hypocrites.

Are you seriously not familiar with the comparative carbon emissions?

If you have more than one kid, you’ve lost this conversation.

It's not more enjoyable to go over break because it's a mad house then. Elementary kids don't need to make up a weeks worth of work, it's elementary school for goodness' sake.

It’s that respect and value for what teachers do that really warms the heart.

Late to this convo but will be taking my 6th grader to Disney in January and missing 2 days of school. This is the only time I have ever pulled him for vacation and likely never will again. I wanted to go at a time the weather wasn’t horrible and crowds are reasonable.

Don’t ask the teacher to accommodate your kid. It’s rude.

Dude you’re up in here bragging about EXTENSIVE international travel while also trying to hold the moral high ground? Absolutely not. Your behavior is indefensible.

If you choose to prioritize short ride lines over school policy and your children’s education, then just accept that many people would not make the same choices.

We went to Disney last month and had a great time. Never stayed in a line more than 25 minutes even though it was July. It’s perfectly doable.

As a former elementary teacher I would have much preferred my kids’ parents spend some real quality bonding time with them than avoid a few missed days.

Note: we combined those countries into one trip to reduce the air travel. Trains and electric cars are terrific.

But continue this off topic tangent because it makes you feel better about pulling your kid out of school.

Yeah of course everyone knows that. Which is why no one started a thread about if anyone else would avoid it. But smug jerks couldn’t stay on topic.

Again: do school breaks somehow not exist for you people?
