Like it or not - That actually was their job here. |
I don’t know why but I’m surprised to see the Dems turn into victim blamers. If you could look outside your political blinders for a minute - FCPS did screw up here. I’m not say deliberately but negligently.
It’s not cool that kids didn’t have this info for college apps. If your kid had this you would want to know. College admissions are so hard today. |
So hard, in fact, that except for a very limited set of circumstances, this award wouldn’t matter. Countless admissions officers have gone public insisting such. Yes, they should have been distributed in a timely manner. No, it’s not a big deal that they weren’t. End of story. |
It's not your reward-you don't get to say what is a "big deal" to someone else. How arrogant! |
What’s arrogant is wasting all this time and money demanding an investigation into a piece of paper saying your kid is a runner up. |
No, what's arrogant is believing you get to determine what is important or not to some other person who EARNED it. |
+1 I do not understand why FCPS administration could not have gone to each school and ask what happened that they dropped the ball. The principal and Student Services should have been able to answer. There are lots of excuses they could use. Staff could have been sick. Could have had new staff that was not aware of the process, etc. The question is: have they always dropped the ball on this or was this a decision to delay or omit. Reid herself could have emailed eight principals to get that information. This is not hard. |
cont--But, since they did pay for a report--they could redact names and release the whole report--not spin it out as she did. |
Disagree. There was no clarity about how it was to be done or by when. College Board simply send the names to the school. |

They have been doing this for years. No excuse for dropping the ball on this. Priorities are clearly not on academics. And, to the person saying they are "runners Up." Even "runners up" get acknowledged. And, some of those schools had NO semi-finalists, so even more important to acknowledge the success. |
We need to recognize and appreciate academic efforts of students to promote its value and encourage other students to strive hard. Unless there is a culture of seeing academic efforts as something to be proud of, educational standards will suffer. |
Delivering paper from 3rd party has nothing to do with delivering academics. I’d rather have staff support teachers and schools on the actual education vs 3rd party paperwork. |
Ok. Good thing that is already happening. |
+1 Waste of time for overworked, understaffed staff - NMSC should have just notified themselves. |
