FCPS statement on NMF issue

Why would an entity ostensibly directed to educating students provide those students with an award indicating that they were indeed educated? While FCPS could have apologized as to why it failed to inform its own students of their accomplishments for no apparent reason, the correct course of action was to pay a law firm hundreds of thousands of dollars to show that FCPS just didn't prioritize informing students about their accomplishments (but not for racial reasons, thankfully).

Harry Jackson has entered the chat, ladies and gentlemen. The same grifter who wants your vote for School Board never misses an opportunity to advocate for school choice - which means defunding public education.

He is a scumbag

I was wondering why the moderator wasn't ending the conversation like he would with the Meghan and Harry threads. Well, it turns out he says she's a right-winger. Does that permit someone to say offensive things about a woman using sexual language? Even if you disagree with someone, allowing someone to denigrate someone using sexual language IS NOT APPROPRIATE. What a huge disappointment. The guy who runs this site is a left-wing misogynist!?!?!? Wonderful.

With regard to the administrator's excuse that he didn't know the students weren't directly contacted and that it was a lot of data entry, why didn't he ask someone? Excuses, excuses. And of course, he had to mention that the parents and students in question didn't think it was important, because to people like the moderator dismiss parents and students from schools like that all the time, so what else is new.

As an NYC parent advocate for rigorous accelerated academics in the public schools, I've seen this all before, in particular the demonization of women advocates. Yes, I know Nomani's politics. We won't agree on all issues, but it doesn't matter, because we're adults. Oddly, when I comment on the TJCoalition feed on Twitter, invariably my account gets blocked by multiple login attempts. It only happens when I comment on the TJCoalition feed. What the eff is wrong with you people, really!!?!? Oh, and I'm a card-carrying Democrat who worked for the current President on the Hill.

Did you report the posts? There’s a report button in the corner. If you think that Jeff is reading every post, you’re delusional. If you report it, he will take a look and make a decision. You’re always welcome to post in Website Feedback or give him your address if you want an explanation as to why something wasn’t removed.

No, but next time I will. I've been here since UB shut down and still not familar with all the 1.0 technology. You'd think he'd have some key word alert.

Aren’t you cute? Managed to slip in a little knock at the moderator because you got called out for not taking responsibility to report something you found offensive but still wanted to whine about.

And this is not some random corporate money making opportunity, but one of the most well known academic awards in the country, albeit not the Commended status.

But how hard would it be for that company to just email the kids the info? This is the thing.

They do it for the real winners; the semi-finalists get notifications from the College Board. Maybe they view commended as being worthless. All it signifies is that a kid did well on the PSAT. Does anyone really care? Do colleges that ignore SATs and ACTs really care about a years old PSAT score?

There are about 3X more commended students than semifinalists, but all are in the top 4% of test takers. I think some of the Democrats are going to regret the dismissive way they referred to kids whose academic records are, with few exceptions, far above and beyond the accomplishments of politicians like Stella Pekarsky, Laura Jane Cohen, Karl Frisch, etc.

And, many would be semi-finalists in another state.

Then go live in those states.......wah, wah, wah......

Somehow, expecting the school system to do something they should be happy and pleased to do bothers you?

Distributing literature from an organization whose primary function is to sell student information to marketers so that kids can receive years of junk mail?

You're clearly too cool for school, but this nihilism in the service of a blatantly left-wing political agenda won't work out well in the end.

More Republican lies.

Do you get paid by the lie?

Not a Republican but it’s repugnant that we have people like Nardos King on the payroll who do little but post Tweets on Hayfield basketball players while academic success in FCPS is regularly denigrated by Democratic hacks. FCPS is a joke.

They won states. Is she not allowed to celebrate?

Some poster here is butt-hurt because someone tweeted a congratulations to a basketball team. The level of fragility is staggering.

No, but next time I will. I've been here since UB shut down and still not familar with all the 1.0 technology. You'd think he'd have some key word alert.

Is UB shutting down responsible for the new less educated tone in DCUM? There’s been a noticeable change in the last several months.

Might account for new external agitators.

You are new here? It’s a common nickname for Trump supporters - male and female - including Youngkin. It isn’t “misogynistic”.

Looks like we found an external agitator trying to stir the pot for Republicans.

'external agitator trying to stir the pot for Republicans'? That was what I saw in a History of America written by the vice-president of the Confederacy.

It would be fine if any similar level of acknowledgment was extended to academic success. But the likes of Nardos King are AWOL when kids bring home top academic honors. It’s pathetic.

You’re judging whether someone cares about academic success based on what they post on Twitter? You do know you’re crazy, right? I should send this thread to her. She will be crying from laughing so hard.

They are trying to pull an Asra.

Spin up a bunch of nonsense to get their crappy Republican candidates elected.
