Until your wife can't get health care. Or until your kids have to practice a different religion at school to not anger the teachers.

Lol. No.

You must live in Maryland or send your kids to private school then.

So...
who won the 2020 election?

I'm in a marriage like this, and if my spouse starts spouting of Fox nonsense about how there was ballot stuffing (but with no proof produced by any side), I'd have to question how gullible they are.

You assume incorrectly that all registered Republicans subscribe to the propaganda of Fox News or live in a manufactured echo chamber.

Then where are you guys? I've voted for Bush, McCain, Romney. But I can identify when something has run off the rails. You centrists have lost your party. The anti-Americans are in control.

Some Republicans aren't dealing with the wacko right reality of their party right now and it shows.

Get back to us in 5 years pp.

In five years I’ll be happily married for 23 years.

Good luck with that. Hope you live in a "frees state", and send your kids to private school.

I used to be a republican too--I'm the pp who warned that the republican guy is not dealing with reality right now. He must think I am a rapid liberal, but I voted for Bush too. I would have voted for McCain if Hillary had run against him. I don't totally agree with Romney but he's one of the only decent moral Republicans left.

Dude, unless you live in Maryland and send your kids to private school (or have your wife imprisoned at home) she is going to be thinking about getting the heck out of there in the next 5 or so years. You might be reasonable, but the Republican party is going full Catholic / Evangelical Taliban very slowly and you don't even seem to notice.

He didnt identify with a party. Why can’t people understand the difference between political affiliation and idealogical identity? SMH

Plenty of R voters hold a set of political views that, if they were elected officials, would get them primaried for being a RINO. But that doesn’t mean they identify or would fit in with Ds. It be like inviting a bunch of Manchins to the party (in states that aren’t WV). They’d probably be very pro-gun, certainly low-taxes, and maybe pro-life, but also socially liberal.

Our DC married into a Republican family (Trump supporters except her husband) and they turned out to be really nice, kind and reasonable people. We still have good friends who are old fashioned Republicans and they are trying to help their party get back into a sane path. They are from deep red states so a lot of it is culture and family traditions.

On the other hand, there are definitely Democrats who are arrogant, unkind and not open to different ways of thinking.

If we stay in our own Echo chambers, things will only get worse.

Most Americans whether D or R support women’s choice and gun controls. i agree with PP who argued for finding common ground and working on that. We need federal protection for abortion rights.

who happen to support racism, nationalism, mysogyny and otherwise subjecting people who aren't straight white christians as the other in a neo-fascist future USA ruled by mobs of Oathkeepers, 3%ers and Proud Boys.

Fine people indeed and you are excusing them.

That is what I assumed also until I got to know them. They are fun and thoughtful. They are very responsible gun owners - everything locked up and all their family including daughters were required to do gun safety training. They support women in the family being the main bread winners and pursuing advanced education. We are a multiracial family and they were extra kind to family members of color.

They are modifying their stances also and more tolerant of more liberal positions now. That happens when you maintain communication channels and mutual respect.

On the other hand, some liberal social media influencers we know are not winning over many people in middle America by dressing and acting like drunk, stoned strippers and holding up signs telling the SC to go F?ck itself.

Most people are way more complex than D and R labels. We need to keep talking to each other.

Well said. Probably will fall on deaf ears with this crowd, though.

So you are comparing real people you know to social media influencers and you find out you like the real people more?
That's going to happen whether you are talking about politics or fashion.

So you are good with the idea that your wife could die because she can't get healthcare for a common malady?

If you aren't speaking out and voting against it, then you are for it.

+1

Voted for George HW Bush twice, W once and will never vote for another republican again.

No more. I was done awhile ago. It’s not politics anymore it’s morality.

Better learn to grow a garden and get you some cows. And fix your own car. Many of those people are republican.

Find out if the CEO of Home Depot is a republican so you know if it’s morally acceptable to get your broccoli seeds from there.

Give me a break! Democrats don’t know how to fix cars in your small mind?

This myopic view is hilarious... I know how to fix my car, I've also done my own plumbing, wiring, tiling, sheetrock. I've grown my own veggies, raised farm animals, hunt, fish, and I know a lot of other liberals who have as well. And by the way we also serve in the military and do all of those other things you think only Republicans do.

SMH.

Tell me you know nothing about demographics and voting trends without telling me you know nothing about demographics and voting trends.

Just admit you guys are a bunch of blow hards and go on somewhere. You are not about to do research every time your need a good or service to make sure you don’t pay a Republican for it.

It’s okay. It’s just the internet. Your wild ranting is just a way to cope and I get the impulse to exaggerate.

You're wrong. Many will. Blindly handing over money without worrying about who you are paying isn't going to work anymore. Thanks to the GOP having to pay back all the varied people who supported them over the years (big business, pro-life, anti-vaxx, NRA...etc.) by backing laws that aren't popular with the majority of Americans, there's bound to be a law that will piss off someone where they will want to spend their money elsewhere.

Run the list.

I know a few African American gardeners and farmers but getting all my produce from therm is not feasible, and the one doing it at scale enough to sell is out of state and a conservative Christian who’s happy as hell (lol) about Roe being overturned.
