You know it’s just an updated version of My Fair Lady/Pygmalion right?

absolutely- there is literally a sexual assault scene that is supposed to be funny and feel-good, when the hot boyfriend give the geeky braces dude permission to rape his girlfriend in a "im taking you under my wing" effort

Oh my god I completely forgot about that. Wtf

Yeah, and Jake Ryan says of his passed-out girlfriend, “I could violate her ten different ways if I wanted to.” Then he passes her along to Farmer Ted and implies it’s Ted’s right to do whatever he wants to her.”

Molly Ringwald also talks about the scene in The Breakfast Club where it’s implied that Bender touches her under the desk. Watching that with her kids…

Do you people honestly not get tired of yourselves? Must every form of storytelling consist ONLY of characters doing things that align with your morals? That’s going to be a world rich with art.

Making sexual assault comedic is not art.

Um it’s still on tv so this just isn’t true.

Eh....it's all watered down now. No way they could make the first few seasons. Lol, the first two episodes of S1 are the gang gets racist and Charlie wants an abortion. They'd offend so many people these days who couldn't handle it. The pilot would be cancelled.

I disagree. Making bad things funny is pretty much the function of comedy.

Anonymous wrote:There are some movies that shouldn’t be made today like “For a Lost Soldier”. A Dutch movie about a sexual relationship between a Canadian soldier and a Dutch 12 year old boy . If you Google the contemporary movie reviews from 1991 or 1992 when it came out, it got glowing reviews. It’s still sold on Amazon , Walmart etc. wtf are people thinking ?

Don’t be so sure — “Call Me By Your Name” won all kinds of awards. The Timothée Chalamet character wasn’t 12, but he was definitely an underage teen sleeping with a grown man. I didn’t read one review that even mentioned that the age difference was inappropriate.

I just googled it to see if my memory was faulty, and I found one article that addressed the issue. It defended the age difference because the movie takes place in Italy and the age of consent in Italy is 14. Well, ok, then.

I don't love either of them, but they haven't aged well at all.

Sure they did!
