There are some movies that shouldn’t be made today like “For a Lost Soldier”. A Dutch movie about a sexual relationship between a Canadian soldier and a Dutch 12 year old boy . If you Google the contemporary movie reviews from 1991 or 1992 when it came out, it got glowing reviews. It’s still sold on Amazon , Walmart etc. wtf are people thinking ?
Don’t be so sure — “Call Me By Your Name” won all kinds of awards. The Timothée Chalamet character wasn’t 12, but he was definitely an underage teen sleeping with a grown man. I didn’t read one review that even mentioned that the age difference was inappropriate. I just googled it to see if my memory was faulty, and I found one article that addressed the issue. It defended the age difference because the movie takes place in Italy and the age of consent in Italy is 14. Well, ok, then.
