In this environment, what is a movie you love which could never be produced today?
Blazing Saddles Tropic Thunder |
|
Animal House
Forrest Gump |
|
Manhattan
Airplane! |
| The Jerk |
| I'm the pp. Also, The Toy. |
Oh gd it would never get made today and I am so glad I got to see it |
|
Tropic thunder is so good.
16 candles and a lot of coming of age type movies from that era. |
| Bad news bears. I will also give an impassioned defense of the one really racist line in the movie—like blazing saddles, I think it is an incisive sendup of racist attitudes. |
| Tropic Thunder was the first one I thought of but it’s SOOOO funny. |
| Drop Dead Gorgeous. |
| NONE of the movies we enjoyed decades ago are made today. Not the screwball comedies, not the big legal dramas, not the feel-good coming of age movies, not the romantic comedies. All we have is awful fantasy/animated/marvel movies. Apparently they are popular in oversees markets and so they keep making them. |
Why couldn’t this be made today? |
|
Bad News Bears.
My dad loved that so it's oddly sentimental to me. Watched it my kids about a decade ago and had to keep pausing to explain why certain things are not appopriate. |
| I like it, but honestly, I can't believe Tropic Thunder could get made when it did! |
|
Tropic Thunder is one of the funniest movies of all time. I always bust a gut laughing during that opening scene.
Also - Police Academy. |
