Building a new school to address overcrowding is a good thing.

It is.

Unfortunately, Frisch is getting a new school built that’s surrounded by schools that are well under capacity. The growth is elsewhere. It’s a huge waste of money.

This. Shrevewood overcrowding could have been fixed with a simple boundary adjustment to Stenwood and Freedom Hill.

Shrevewood’s overcrowding has been fixed.

Vote Frisch out!! The guy is scum.

The overcrowding is temporarily fixed. The numbers will increase as the Covid classes transition out of ES. Are new families choosing private? I don’t think so.
and there would be a simple boundary adjustment with Stenwood that would fix this problem if it comes to be. We didn't need the $60 million man to come up with a wasteful solution to a problem that may not exist.

Exactly this. There were Shrevewood families that left FCPS and aren't coming back. There are Shrevewood families who've reacted to the LLIV approach by sending their kids to Lemon Road. The number of ES kids in FCPS may also decline due to general demographic trends. FCPS's long-term projections (which include student yield from future residential construction not included in the CIP forecasts) only yield 15 more kids at Shrevewood, and most of that relates to a development outside the Beltway.

But if there were a rebound in the school's enrollment, there was a simple solution available that could be implemented quickly and would not waste $60M, which is what's now estimated as the cost of Dunn Loring in the latest CIP. Frisch is a moron and he should be voted out.

He told me he would investigate and get back to me. He never got back to me. A school board member should be available to help parents with specific problems a family is facing with the school the child attends. It seems from many of the comments in this thread that he has a history of not listening to parents or working with parents to resolve specific problems in their schools. He should be voted out for that reason alone.

This is not an issue you bring to the school board, it's an issue you bring to the executive principal and/or assistant superintendent for your region.

You're wrong. You don't have a kid at Shrevewood. Covid is not what is driving the enrollment numbers now. If you were a parent there, you would know this.

If you look at the membership numbers for Shrevewood, the current second grade class is the largest at 116, followed by sixth grade at 104 and then first grade at 93.

I think the current principal solved the overcrowding issue due to the Level IV cluster model. You can see the increased numbers at Lemon Road.

It was a brilliant move, frankly. He got rid of problem parents and overcrowding at the same time, LOL!

DP. Then Frisch shouldn’t have lied to this parent by saying he would investigate and get back to him/her.

You must not know the importance of test scores if you believe the issues is solved.

+1. COVID has nothing to do with the declining numbers. It's also not a poor reflection on the school. I believe the Principal indirectly fixed the crowding issue by getting rid of AAP classrooms. Now it's a cluster model which many families aren't a fan of. That's why the larger class sizes are K-2 and 6th grade. Next year, 6th grade class will be small.

+1 It is likely test scores will go down and FARMS numbers will increase as a specific demographic leaves after 2nd grade. Long term, there is the potential for home values to decrease. It’s not “lol” as a PP stated.

Have you listened to the podcast Nice White Parents?

Tony Sabio did not answer the SEPTA questionnaire.

Did Tony Sabio ever waste $60 million on taxpayer money like Frisch?
Anonymous
I literally don’t know Sabio’s positions on ANYTHING because he has not filled out any of the questionnaires for school board candidates!
Anonymous
Providence candidates should be asked to answer a simple questionnaire:

Have you ever wasted $60M in taxpayer money on an unnecessary school in Providence in order to save a dog park in another part of the district?

You keep posting here but it’s clear you don’t have a child at the school. Those of us whose children stayed are happy with the way things are now. We don’t care about test scores because we feel our children are in a better situation now. And it’s not just education, it’s also socially. The kids are happier this year.
