How can you tell if someone is conservative?

Not Christian, immigrant (I am an immigrant from a former communist country and myself and majority of immigrants from said country I’ve met tend to skew conservative), graduate degree, not SAHM, don’t care if my kids turn out to be gay (trans is a separate issue because it’s a form of body dysmorphia and thus not healthy but I’d still support them if they turned out to be trans since transitioning is the best treatment.) I don’t care whether other people want to do with themselves as long as they let me be my boring self but dislike the need to praise various identities or behaviors instead of just saying “I don’t care one way or another or even don’t think it’s great but it’s none of my business.” I dislike the social spending programs and various cultural policies put forward by Democrats which is why I tend to vote Republican.

No acquaintance has ever guessed my views in RL. I don’t hide them but I never discuss politics outside of my family and certainly not on social media because I do not find the topic something I find interesting to talk about and see no point in either getting into a debate or a circular agreement session.

We need to hunt these people down. Every last conservative.

Hunt them down and expose them! Out them. Doxx them.

Show up at their homes with torches. Get them fired!!

I’ve always been a Democrat and up until Trump, saw Republicans mostly as people who viewed role of government differently. Now it feels like two parties living two different realities. i wouldn’t have blinked if you told me you were a Republican 10 years ago but now? Especially if you supported Trump.

That’s easy. They are loud and in your face. Also, they aren’t afraid to tell you because they are morally superior because they are a dem. You can try to avoid them, but they usually won’t leave you alone.

It’s would be an amazing gift if you avoided us. Thanks in advance.

They have huge yard signs saying that they are great people and that anyone who disagrees should lose their jobs and be shamed in the public square. They are generally yelling with absolute moral certainty that they know everything. It’s not subtle.

Thanks for staying away!

No problem! It’s easy, we can usually smell you before we can see you!

This is PP. Nope, I am from one of the former Eastern Block countries and I am more the rule than the exception for fellow immigrants from that background. In talking to a lot of people over the years, you tend to find that immigrants from communist/former communist countries tend to skew conservative whether they are Cuban, EE, Vietnamese, Chinese etc.

1. Is she a SAHM?
2. Does she belong to a church?
3. Does she do some type of charity work? Through church or other org?
4. Lack of attributes identifying her as being left leaning (pink/blue hair, hybrid vehichle, pronouns on LinkedIn, etc)?

This list will get you the wrong answer most of the time.

Wrong the pearl clutcher I know it’s super status oriented and is avid Dem. she only looks down on others. She obviously is just a crummy person and unrelated but nope she’s not conservative at all.

I know women how are yes to all 4 and are very liberal. I guess volunteering for homeless shelters your church helps sponsor is a marker of a conservative

Yep, I’m not saying that the above are positive confirmation, they’re just clues.

Those clues would be wrong for 80% of moms I know, especially the Catholic ones.

+1 Incidentally, all the Catholic nuns I know are liberals.

They tend to be targeted for propaganda and fall for it. Instead of studying history they repeat it.

You can’t even define “conservative” in the US vs alt-right/tea party.

Love,
Right-wing UMC college-educated mom who knows I have to signal this if I want anyone to know!

To continue this, things that would make me suspect another mom was conservative: mentions her church, is young but has three or more kids, sends her kids to a religious private school. I would not assume things based on dress, which IMO derives much more from upbringing and family of origin culture than politics.

The school thing is wrong. Many, many religious schools are liberal leaning.

The PP who talks about propaganda is just so wrong. I am also from one of the former communist countries (like the two PPs above me) and I don’t consume any conservative news. But it’s enough for me to listen to NPR to have a perfect deja vu.

One is supposed to follow the party line, and god forbid they disagree or just have a shadow of a doubt. It’s not the right wing press that writes about cancellations!

Then, there are certain minorities who are preferred to other minorities. It reminds me of how back in the day one had to be of “worker or peasant descent” to be eligible for things.

Trust me we have seen it all. We don’t need propaganda to see where all this is going.

The propaganda is not fed to you through conservative TV it’s fed to you through TV in the language of your country of origin.

I am one of the EE PPs and I don’t watch or read news sources from my country of origin nor do I watch fox or newsmax or breitbart. I don’t watch any news but I read plenty, mainly NY Times and WaPo but a bunch of others most of which are either left or center-left. About the only publication I regularly read that wouldn’t qualify for that label is The Economist. And yet somehow I am still not a Democrat! I know it’s hard to believe but people can come to different conclusions than you without being brainwashed. Shocking!
