this is huge. harris and susan rice are not relateable at all to the black community writ large. Keisha Bottoms and Val Demings are infinitely more relatable. They've lived and live an authentic black american experience. |
The actual black people I know disagree with this. |
She's great--progressive and bipartisan appeal, policy chops, WI a key state. But unlike some white candidates like Warren and Whitmer she has no record of engagement with race relations issues, which will probably disqualify her. |
What socioeconomic group are the black people you know in? |
Isn’t every Black American’s experience authentic ? |
Of course, but it's a numbers game here. |
Another good article, which basically comes down to the anti-Warren animus pervading some of these arguments:

Karen Bass is now being vetted:

She'd be great. Lots of leadership (more so than some other names on the list), progressive but also some record of bipartisan work. |
Black men will be more apt to support demings and bottoms vs. harris and rice.
If you don't think so, you don't know many black men. |
Can you explain this? I'm not following. |
PP is pointing out that Harris and Rice didn’t marry black men. |
She's fantastic, so sharp and personable. She moderated a COVID-19 panel with Biden in March, seems like they could have good chemistry: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lnG13ft9BeI&feature=youtu.be&t=474 |
UGH, are you black?? I am, and I can relate to all of these black women because there are certain aspects of being a professional black woman in this country that we ALL experience. So, just stop. |
Black man, here. This assertion is false, IMO. And, if the assertion is based on what I think it's based on, the statement is also plenty foolish. |
