Using Crossfield as the starting point is bogus. No one going to Carson lives that far.

And, the time--using express lanes is 15 minutes.
Eight minutes to Carson.

And, most of the population lives closer to Carson than that intersection.

He must be getting pushback from some Crossfield people now.

This tells me that Meren is putting pressure on him now. She's had a year to do that.

Really - what MS do you think those students across from Crossfield attend? And why do you think that you know better than their actual experience?
From my home near Crossfield my child's Carson bus ride was always significantly longer than their current ride to Oakton.

I have a feeling that many of the complainers about crossfield are entirely unfamiliar with the area or only know about the Franklin farm side.

Very familiar with the area. Drive West Ox and Reston Parkway regularly. Drive Folkstone from time to time.

So, the vast majority of the Crossfield Oakton kids live between Fairfax County Parkway and West Ox Rd.

So, because a handful of the Crossfield families claim they are closer to Oakton (they are not, you can verify that by driving it or even looking at a map) they claim they should go to Oakton.

All are closer to Carson than to Oakton. But, you know that. Time wise and mileage.

If you live close to Crossfield, your kids should be going to South Lakes along with Fox Mill Woods.

I have continuously posted that in my neighborhood bus rides to oakton are shorter than crossfield for months on these threads.McDaniel confirmed that.

There's far more than a handful of people zoned to crossfield. Less than franklin farm to be sure.

Are you one of the two ladies who pipes up in every single meeting with Kyle that your child's bus ride to Carson is 45 minutes? Every. Single. Time.

Was Seema Dixit there?

People voted "Proximity" as the most important criteria.

I expected many Westfield people would show up to support their school.

Instead, a lot of Crossfield parents showed up in support of the final scenario. And many Walney Village and nearby communities who want to be in Chantilly and AVOID Westfield.

Not a single person said anything about Westfield getting gutted out.

This is sad.

Well they certainly can't move anyone else out of Westfield, they are down to fewer than 2100 kids.

Bet it is. She posted earlier that others go to Crossfield besides Franklin Farm. We all know that. We also know that far fewer live near Crossfield--as she does.
You can easily see if you look at the birdseye view on google maps. Her area north of West Ox Road/Lawyers is much more sparsely populated than the area south of it.

I can understand that they are likely ticked off about Walney Oaks, as well. I think those areas are currently Cub Run/Chantilly? They absolutely should be at Westfield.

If I were in charge, I'd put Walney Oaks at Westfield and leave Chantilly Mews area at Chantilly. That would be the right thing to do.

I'd love to hear Reid's reasoning. "Well, I just didn't know, but I did promise!"

Yup she spoke at the end about all the meetings she’s had with families and how she is your advocate and she hears the concerns (probably directed to the Walney Oaks families).

Agree that this makes sense.

I would also move the apartments back to CVHS and move an area closer to BRES over to Westfield.

Who has she been meeting with if she won't reply to an email or even return phone calls from the Westfield parents?

The Walney Village area, which is a small neighborhood, is the only MC area moved to Westfield.

She was there and her message was to Walney Villages people who want to get out of Westfield.

It is sinister that she is being an advocate to only certain communities while destroying Westfield.

The vast majority of the Westfield parents staying at Westfield are not following along (remember 1000+ families are moving out).

Everyone is assuming fcps will be sending more kids to attend the school. Very few people are paying attention close enough or are savvy enough on staffing formulas to understand the downsream effects on Westfield academics.
Nor should they! Its FCPS and the SBs job.

Seema knows if she moves them out, she has to find more poor Bull Run kids to move in.

That's really incredibly insulting to a school in her own community!

Well, Walney Village does go to Cub Run. So, it makes perfect sense to go to Westfield. But, Walney Oaks should go, as well.
