The facts and documents the plaintiffs included in their initial filing actually make their case look worse LOL! Cannot wait to see all the juicy details emerge.

Um thats the last thing anyone needs.

Vhsl needa to fix their procedural mistake.

Is it fixable by 12/4? Can ban be re-enforced if they explain the process they used? Can VHSL start process all over and enforce ban for two years 2025-2026?

Lots of questions still to be answered

Sure, they just have to have a committee re-issue the first decision instead of just the director, give Hayfield a few days to appeal, and then deny that appeal. Completely doable.
Wlll yank Hayfield out of the tournament though.

I know, right? I LOL'd at the guy who thinks this fact helped his case. "My kid just happened to transfer to Hayfield in April 2024, along with 14 other boys who all happened to play football at Freedom HS." LMAO! These people don't know when to shut up.

Does anyone have a link to the court proceedings where the judge mentions that the reason for the injunction was because of VHSL not following their own procedures by not having a committee introduce the recommendation?

Revised schedule is worse than an NFL schedule....5 days between rounds 1 & 2 and 4 days between rounds 2 & 3?!?

First Round - Thursday, November 21

#1 Hayfield vs. #8 Thomas Edison

#2 Lake Braddock vs. #7 Mount Vernon

#3 West Springfield vs. #6 South County

#4 Fairfax vs. #5 West Potomac

Second Round - Tuesday, November 26

Region Finals - Saturday, November 30

State Semifinals - Saturday, December 7

Didn’t look like he had to be either

You’re obsessing over a 3-7 team that was notified they would be in the playoffs at the same time Hayfield was notified they were banned. With all due respect, they didn’t earn anything.

So Hayfield could get all the way to the semifinals and then kicked back out? What a mess FCPS has caused with their incompetence.

Anonymous wrote:I'm a Robinson football parent and yeah our 3-7 is laughable and believe me we were surprised to make the playoffs too. But our team practiced hard all week somewhat reluctantly and to be told a couple of hours before the game that we're done. No closure especially for the seniors. In every league their is always a team at the bottom. That was Robinson. Fine. But this last minute stuff is not right. But we are moving on because some of us have more in life than high school football.

Robinson played by the rules and earned their record fairly. Your team played by the rules and deserved better than this. I’m really sorry.

Neither did Hayfield. Since the governing body ruled they cheated.

I feel bad for the Hayfield kids and even the transfers. They probably had no idea what they were doing were illegal But principal Thompson and Overton need to be blacklisted forever.

They won’t even get there. Cheaters never win.

“Fascinating hearing. Vhsl lawyer was not very prepared. Hayfield lawyer moderately prepared - to his defense I believe he was just retained 2 days ago. The judge was incredibly prepared - he knew the pleadings and the vhsl bylaws much better than either attorney. 5 minutes in it was looking good for hayfield bc the judge brought up something that the hayfield atty did not - the initial decision was made by the vhsl exec director but the bylaws require a committee to make a decision if the decisions includes a penalty of probation. That was a huge key factor that the judge on his own brought up….the judges preperaration for a hearing that was scheduled yesterday was pretty amazing…”

Draw your own conclusion. But it seems like a technicality where the VHSL was wrong for not following its own procedures as opposed to Hayfield’s argument was right.

To be fair to both attorneys, they got into this very last minute. FCPS division counsel is who had been working the case, so Cafferky didn't have much time. Same with the VHSL lawyer - this was set very quickly and I'm sure they both had to shuffle schedules to appear. The judge is known for paying attention to the details, so he was a good draw.

They likely will. Hayfield is not slated to win this thing. But the judge has rules so I'm not going to question the ruling. Let them play.

The judge granted a temporary injunction. Ruling on the merits is Dec 4.
