Feds uncover large-scale college entrance exam cheating plot

Trevor Noah on Thursday revisited the college-admissions bribery scandal, in which new developments continue to unfold. He played a TV news report saying that Yale had rescinded the acceptance of one student involved in the scheme, and that the University of Southern California was considering expelling students already enrolled.

“The whole country has been rocked by the news that hundreds of parents have been accused of bribing their kids’ way into elite colleges — and also U.S.C.” — TREVOR NOAH
Noah weighed how much sympathy he ought to have for the students. “There are some people who feel bad for the kids, who did nothing wrong, because they may now get kicked out of college because of what their parents did,” he said.

“It doesn’t really matter if the kids didn’t know their parents bribed their way in, the point is they got into the school under false pretenses. Probably. Ironic that in his effort to reduce his jail time, he has made his entire family infamous, including the kids he wanted to give an unfair leg up.

It’s not fair that the student wasn’t named, if the Loughlin daughters and others have been outed.

Well, they are known in their own communities obviously. A huge percentage of them lived in the same area and quite a lot came from the same schools. They are not anonymous.

Yes. I also thought about this. His DCs must hate him, particularly if they didn’t know about the bribery.

Presumably his DC submitted her own application and probably noticed that she was applying as a soccer star even though she wasn't.

I think she's referring to Tobin....he definitely wore a wire with the Yale soccer coach.

The WSJ reporting specifically stated the gov/FBI was shielding a family/informant, keeping the names confidential, and they were facing ZERO charges.

It’s not Tobin. That reporting detailed Tobin. There is a name out there being protected because they “cooperated”. That’s some serious backchannel transactional favors to have your name protected.
