Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS)
It's always been about rich folks having bigger voice. |
LOL. All those busses are moving to the new RM5 with shorter bus trips and the one that isn't in one projection is going further to RM5. Nice try though. |
I am from CG and I was supporting Fallsgrove earlier. Their claim made it sound as if they have the longest bus rides. I guess everyone needs to have some perspective. One parent even said earlier in this long thread that his kid takes bus to attend PEP program and that ride was much longer than any Falls grove kids. I saw no reply for that. |
I guess logic went over your head. No one said anything about they are not moving, but listening to all the rant form Fallsgrove made it look like they are suffering worst in RM cluster. Clearly, many have a much longer ride, but no one speaks for them. That was the point. . |
this post is stupid. |
+1 Also B3 was the furthest and will now be right across the street to RM5. B1 is now walkable as well as RP2. They all have shorter commute times. One more thing. Beall busses run the bus stops for CG tier 2 so some drop off earlier to get to the next set of bus stops to arrive at CG on time. It does not mean their commute was longer. We live right across the street from the school and the bus starts st 8:20am, arrives at the school by 8:40am even though school starts at 9:00pm. He then leaves and goes to the next set of bus stops. So starting times do not always equate longer driving times. |
Why would anyone speak for them. They are getting a walkable brand new school instead of getting bussed to Beall. They are happy! |
You realize that bus start times are based on 1. where the bus is coming from before it goes to the elementary school stops (many have drop offs at Julius West and RM first) and 2. whether there are multiple stops on the route. It's not as simple as earliest bus pick up = farthest commute There are 5 different buses that service Fallsgrove - they all have different pick up times listed even though the neighborhood is not very different in terms of travel time to the school (my child's bus sometimes doesn't arrive until after 8:30 due to earlier pick ups at Julius West and traffic getting to fallsgrove). |
And which of those Beall buses will now have a shorter commute with the new ES, while FG would have a longer one? |
|
Here is two bus time for Fallsmead.
Route: 5313 - FALLSMEAD ES (GREEN) - 8:07 A.M. Route: 5311 - FALLSMEAD ES (GOLD) - 8:15 AM Every single school has much longer route than Falls grove. I am not saying that it's a good idea to spend long time in bus. But RP should pipe down this Fallsgrove kids having the worst n terms to travel talk. In MCPS there are plenty of routes taking much longer. |
There is a difference between a bus ride to PEP or the HGC or other specialty programs and a bus ride to a local school. That's why no one responded. The comparison wasn't valid. |
i’d like to reiterate that this post is stupid. |
And what is the travel time for students on those buses now? It's not about bus pick up time, it's travel time. Are they 4 miles away from Beall (serious question, I have no idea)? |
You don't seem to understand the concept of average. |
|
Numbers are a funny thing.
If you send RP5 to their closest school, you could close Ritchie Park completely send all the kids from RP to ES#5 and still be under capacity there. Board should look into that option instead of wasting money for the unnecessary ES school in RM cluster. |
