Hayfield Football Coach Fired

Anonymous
According to a poster on the Fairfax Times website who appears to have witnessed the hearing …

“Fascinating hearing. Vhsl lawyer was not very prepared. Hayfield lawyer moderately prepared - to his defense I believe he was just retained 2 days ago. The judge was incredibly prepared - he knew the pleadings and the vhsl bylaws much better than either attorney. 5 minutes in it was looking good for hayfield bc the judge brought up something that the hayfield atty did not - the initial decision was made by the vhsl exec director but the bylaws require a committee to make a decision if the decisions includes a penalty of probation. That was a huge key factor that the judge on his own brought up….the judges preperaration for a hearing that was scheduled yesterday was pretty amazing…”

Draw your own conclusion. But it seems like a technicality where the VHSL was wrong for not following its own procedures as opposed to Hayfield’s argument was right.

Letting them play this year doesn't fairly punish the coach.

The Hayfield lawyer should have been incredibly well prepared since he assisted Hayfield with their appeals against vhsl.
For him to charge $900:hour and not catch a procedural error
Makes me question fcps judgment in hiring him as their lawyer.

They just canceled/rescheduled the Edison WSHS game

Time & date tba.

How unfair and ridiculous.

So the Robinson kids were told an hour before their game that they were no longer playing?

A third team Overton screwed over in just one season.

So all
Vhsl has to do to cure this is put it back in front of a committee to affirm.

So ugly to see open cheating rewarded.

What a terrible lesson for the students in all fcps schools.

I hope the teams can munch on all the food the Boosters purchased. I’d hate for all that to go to waste.

Would the vote the same day. That’s so many moving parts, or would they enforce the ban for 25-26 since it would be way too late to enforce this year. He’ll win or lose they competed I. This years post season so does the extra year get put on the backend

That would be the right call to have a 2 year post season ban apply. There is no “time served” if they play this post season.

But the kids playing varsity football 2 years from now will not be the same kids here now.

Not Overton, the VHSL.

Nope, Overton and his PME crowd.

I'm sure the other fcps coaches and teams are absolutely livid with reid and fcps. Why are we condoning cheating and letting cheaters runo seasons of teams that play by the rules?

Yep, if they get that done by Dec 4 it seems like then Hayfield will lose. Too late for the other teams.
