Didn't McLean just send their entire U19 girls team to DI programs? I am sorry but how did McLean lose out? |
Spirit has a team in contention for the playoffs, and Spirit had to start from scratch rather than just "converting" an existing team. These girls come from ~10 different clubs, so of course it has taken longer for them to gel. Some of these parent comments are just so black and white. |
Rookie comment. That's how I know you are unable to contribute any meaning to this debate. If you were at an existing ECNL club in your recruiting years you would not leave for DA. Everyone knows this..except the ulittle parents chiming in every 5 seconds. |
Mclean 04 and below losing kids to FCV. ...Spirit. ..Arlington Loudoun already lost their best kids. BRYC losing talent. So educate me on the state of ECNL in Northern Virginia.? Again..you keep bringing up ECNL glory days...ECNL is not the same. You just don't get it. Bethesda doesn't have a DA next to them....so.... |
And since you brought up Mclean u16, who is top in their division this year.....they were 6th in their division last year. So yeah...they haven't missed a beat. When the best leave the bottom gets elevated |
And let me state one last point...
I respect Mclean..Bryc..Bethesda.. They have a strong history to back them up. But let's not get to crazy with the accolades |
Look, just recognize that not everyone is going DA for the following reasons, a few which you identified.
1. Kids want to play HS or other sports; 2. Logistic's - Practice too far away; 3. Costs - WS was $5,000; 4. Already at critical recruiting phase. |
ECNL 10,000 a year in 2016. Let's not talk price. HS....yeah..you got me |
Having had my DD in the ECNL and now I the DA, a couple of points.
1. Cost is the same. Spirit made the "mistake" of charing it all in one lump sum, but I added my ecnl bill up from last year, and it's the same. Maybe even a little better now that Spirit let's me get my DD her airfare. 2. Parents who think the ecnl compares in quality say that because that's all they know. I myself was skeptical, but my DD wanted the year round training and she loved the idea of being in an NWSL academy (which she's super pumped that next year they will wear the pro kits). You can't judge - or shouldn't judge - a league by stats. If you did, then last year, McLean and Richmond Utd sucked. It should be on the quality of play (like do they teach possession and building from the back), the development of the players (which my DD has visibly gotten better), and the overall atmosphere. My DD could make any team in VA she wanted to. She always has. But if you see and live the DA experience, it's so much more than just another league. (which we came into this viewing it as an experiment). We would have gone back to her ecnl team if this hadn't been better. But it has been. |
Has anyone gotten offers from Spirit for 05/06 since the Sunday ID session? I assumed it would be in the latter half of this week. |
Not the formal offer with a payment link, but the informal "we'd like your child to be a part of spirit kind" for a family I know. But it's always worth it to contact spirit to see if the roster is set, or if they are still looking. |
Internal Spirit email to existing teams said offers will come out in the next couple of weeks.
So 05 06 probabley on same timeframe |
+1. Nailed it. Lol. That jackarse and his dead horse has contributed about 2/3s of the same repeat posts the last 30 pages. No life. I think CCL guy has a better life then him ..... |
And you read every last one of them. Hello Kettle! |
ECNL says more to come..... (DRAMA)
They know every club that is coming back to ECNL. They're allowing a slow drip to create the illusion that GDA is collapsing. Perfectly orchestrated at tryout time in order to freeze talent migrations. Spoiler Alert: it will about 10 ECNL clubs total. Spoiler Alert: Most of those clubs were Dual DA/ECNL clubs Spolier Alert: Several Dual Socal clubs are dropping ECNL for only DA. Net gains..net loses. Nothing changes. Pick your poision. |
