^^Exactly. Is it over, or is it the calm before the storm. On pins and needles for weeks, it feels like it must be over, but this whole process has been strange, and at this point, nothing would surprise me.
The annoying thing is that the kids are finally wrapping their heads around the schools they are committed to, choosing housing, buying the sweatshirt, and after all that, in a couple of weeks it's possible they'll have the - opportunity, I guess - to turn on a time. They've had enough whiplash for one year, but a happy surprise would certainly keep the excitement going. |
| Looks like Uchicago waitlist closed. |

DD got accepted from the waitlist at NYU today. I’m the same poster whose DD got accepted to Ga Tech yesterday.
To the person who asked: DD checks her emails everyday, but not the portals. Ga Tech was an email that spells out all the details - she got accepted for a summer start, and she has until Monday to accept. NYU was a cryptic “check your portal for an update” message. She figured it was a rejection or they closed their waist list. Instead it was a nice letter offering a spring 2022 start, taking classes during summer 2022 to catch up and graduate with the rest of the class. I’m not sure she’s down for that, but she’s glad for the acceptance and is considering her options. |
| Another Waitlist NYU Spring Admit here. |
| Brown says that "if spaces are available" they will begin making offers by mid-May. Has anyone heard anything? DS is in at Michigan but holding out hope. |
Congrats to your DC! |
That’s interesting. Is this something they do every year, or is it possible it has to do with how many students deferred last year? |
Lots of schools do this because people tend to go abroad second semester of junior year so spots for housing open up. The school is a business and doesn't want open spots so they offer them to students on the wait list. |
In addition, spring admits do not get their scores included in the reported score ranges for the university. |
| UChi have my kid a notification two days ago that he was no longer on the waitlist. He's happy with the school he chose but it still seemed like an unnecessary smack in the face. |
I understand that, but, alternatively, better to know. The waiting and not knowing is also very hard on these kids. Something to be said for finality. |
| I agree. why is it a slap in the face to be informed that you won't be offered a spot. |
| Just heard Va Tech isn’t taking off waitlist; they only took a handful off and most were OOS. |
If true...holy sh*t. |
nah, there were in-state kids taken off from Fairfax and Loudoun. |
