A 60 year old woman was attacked by 2 pitbulls, during her regular walk in her neighborhood. The dogs knocked her to the ground and bit her, only letting go when a passerby stopped his car, chased them off, and helped her into this car. The victim had to go to the emergency room. The dogs are unlicensed

3 pitbulls each attack a different shelter worker, on different days. The shelter determined the dogs attacked without provocation from either humans, or other dogs. These dogs were euthanized, but part of a larger seizure that the shelter made, due to a hoarding situation.

Yes, and this: Yarbrough said she is also cautious about dogs that come from Out of the Box, which is known for rescuing dogs deemed for euthanasia due to aggressive or biting behavior.

“Knowing the reputation, that plays into it,” she said.

So, this goes towards the Dog Laundering we've seen with "No-Kill" shelters. You have a bunch of dangerous dogs with bite histories who get passed around and their histories erased to get them adopted at all costs, even human lives. This place (above) takes in dogs even the shelters can't handle because they're deemed dangerous enough to be put down and looks to re-habilitate? Listen, I love dogs. And probably the rescue and shelter workers do too! If people say this one needs to go, it is the ultimate hubris to think you know otherwise. I guess they pay for that hubris with injuries.

And that is the problem with pitbulls, they are "fine" until they are not. Later on, they mauled her to death, they "loved" her until she triggered an aggressive response by falling down at the wrong time. That sweet, innocent kid didn't deserve that, and the owners of the dogs still are fighting to get them back and keep them as pets. These dogs, and all of these bully type breeds, are dangerous and have no place in society. Even though the owners have an adult only household, those animals still managed to kill a little girl.

For the record, no child should be near any dog's food bowl. My kid grew up with a Rottweiler mix and a pit mix and had no problems but was bit by a small fluffy dog at a friend's house. Some small dogs are aggressive because they're more likely to be feel threatened and after a chihuahua attacked my pit mix I will never trust them.

At any rate, I love dogs but you shouldn't take chances with any of them -- large or small -- regardless of breed.

2 adult males attacked and mauled by a pitbull mix. One man had to be hospitalized for his injuries, with serious injuries to his upper body. The second man was transported to the hospital for minor injuries.

Kids should leave dogs bowl alone. However, for the record, a dog that lives in a household, (especially one with children), should be able to tolerate a child walking near it while it is eating, at least long enough for a parent to pick up the child. These are not dogs giving a warning bite or snapping at a kid, this thread it talking about dogs mauling children and adults to death.

The owner left his pitbull chained in a garage, and then left the garage door open. A 3 year old boy wandered in, and the pitbull mauled the child's stomach, hands, and face. The police already happened to be in the area, as they had been called out to investigate the pitbull and an incident where it had attacked a puppy the day before. Maybe the owner didn't have kids or pets, but it didn't protect that little boy and the puppy.
