Here's one article about it. The father stepped outside to move a water sprinkler, heard a commotion and came in to find the baby unresponsive. And the father is LEO, so he should be familiar with reports about leaving a baby alone with pets.

Heartbreaking, that poor baby Rotties are the breed that disfigure and kill the most people, after pitbulls. Again, a dangerous breed that should not be in the same house as young children.

They want to adopt a shelter dog because it's the liberal thing to do, and the shelters are full of pitbulls.

Is adopting a pitbull from a shelter really a liberal thing? Though yes I have seen the most left wingers rescue pitbulls from a shelter.

I know a Trump loving guy who adopted two pitbills ( I think he is a good guy overall) but, he is NOT liberal. He did accept the election results though!

It's completely not agressive, wonderful with children, and I could take food out of its mouth. We've had it for nearly two year without any incident.

But I am also in the camp of no pit is safe. We're unlikely to get rid of the dog, but I can't help being a bit worried. What would you do?

We also have a Pitt mix who is totally not aggressive with food or people. He gets scared of some people so like any dog you need to read his mood and put him someplace safe if he is stressed.

Sigh. It's not just aggressive dogs that bite. Insecure, stressed dogs bite out of fear.

2 children were walking to a corner store in their neighborhood. A woman opened the front door to her house, and her three pitbulls slipped passed her and went after the boys. The dogs puled the children to the ground, and bit their faces, arms, and legs. The woman's neighbor heard the commotion, rushed outside, and kicked the dogs to stop them from further mauling the children. The authorities have two of the dogs, they do not know where the third dog is.

Maybe these pitbulls live in an "adult only" household (like so many rescues state that these types of dogs need when they are trying to find homes for them), but that did not protect the children in the neighborhood. These are zero mistake dogs, when they slip out the front door they are actively looking to hurt someone .

A woman was walking down the street in her neighborhood. Two pitbulls dug under the fence around their yard, escaped onto the street, and attacked the woman. They bit her arm, hand, thigh, and chest, and pulled her for several feet. Another neighborhood heard her yelling, ran to help, and was also attacked and bit by these dogs. The owner of the dogs is allowed to keep them as long he fulfills "a variety of requirements, including vaccinating the dogs for rabies, spaying or neutering them, muzzling them off the property, having them microchipped and have them attend a socialization training."

You cannot socialize vicious dogs, you can merely manage their behavior. The owner already failed once managing their behavior, the fence around his yard was not secure enough to keep them contained. There is no way to make these dogs friendly. There is no neighborhood without children, elderly people, or other pets, where they can safely live and avoid everything that "triggers" this type of aggression. Dogs like this should be humanely euthanized, in order to protect every person and friendly animal that lives in their neighborhood.

We need to change the laws so pit bull (or part pit) owners face serious criminal charges, not just civil ones, if there is any sort of attack.

There would be broad bipartisan support for this. There’s nothing in the constitution about pit bulls.
