Why do people hate Disney?

I don’t hate Disney, but I truly don’t get the hype over that place.

The thing I thought was lame about how Universal did HP world is that you have to pay for 2 separate park tickets to see the whole thing, since they spread it out.

Talk about price gouging!

To add: WDW is a much better value for your money than Universal.

So to just take one day — March 7th.

If I wanted to see both sides of HP world, I’d have to by the “2 parks in 1 day” ticket at Universal for $187 per adult.

For $236 dollars per adult, I can get a WDW ticket with Park Hopper Plus, so I can see 4 parks.

So I can pay $60 per park at Disney, or I can pay $94 per park at Universal.

And lest you think one wouldn’t use park hopper plus at Disney, think again. You could easily do Animal Kingdom in the morning, Magic Kingdom in the afternoon, and then have dinner plus a couple late-night rides at Epcot.

In May we will take her to Oahu. In November we will be back at Disney.

Yes, you can do it all if you have the money.

Ok, but what about the other 98%

I think part of this is that many people think it’s an entire theme park dedicated to HP. It’s not. It two sections in two different theme parks. There’s a whole lot to do in both parks outside of HP. If you skip all of that, I can definitely see why people think it’s not worth it.

Maybe comparing 1 day. But if you wanted to take a 4-day trip to either park, Universal (with park hopper) would be way cheaper than Disney. WAY. We are going to Universal the week of spring break, staying in a hotel with free express pass ($$$) and buying annual passes and its STILL way cheaper than going to Disney for the same time.

I mean you do you, but I ran out of things to do at Universal pretty quickly. It’s a fraction of the size, which is why it ends up being cheaper if you buy the annual passes and things like that. I also found the food was much worse than at Disney.

You do realize that Disney has plenty of restaurants and rides that aren’t meant for kids at all, right?

My 4 year old is too short for a big percentage of rides at Disney.

There are restaurants everywhere.
And why would an adult care about rides she much that they would base a vacation on it?
The rides at Disney aren’t that great anyways.

Also, don’t know why you’re touting free express pass. Do they normally charge for that? WDW fast pass is free.

Well, they’re considered some of the best rides at any theme park in the world, but sure — they’re not that great.

Rise of the Resistance, Smuggler’s Run, Flight of Passage ... yeah, what shitty rides!
Anonymous
An adult who can’t appreciate a ride like Flight of Passage is just a depressing thought to me.

Anonymous
Skip to 12:07 to see the ride itself. It’s incredible.

Here’s another one of Disney’s crappy rides: Rise of the Resistance.

What shit.

As someone who really likes WDW, express pass is far superior for the user experience. It’s either paid for separately or, if you stay at certain resorts it’s included gratis. No pre-booking your rides, no scheduling with a min hour between, no “all gone” fast passes. Express pass is for nearly all rides (maybe only hagrid is excluded at this time), and it’s a separate line you just go in for each ride.

I mean, Universal is a fraction of the size of Disney with way fewer people going each year, so it’s not surprising they could institute something like that.

Disney World is, I think, the most popular single attraction in the world. That’s why it’s so difficult to manage.

Just awful. for the same money, I could take the family on vacation to Panama. Why bother with Disney?
