Where did you get that info? We are a new family and haven't heard anything about events in May.

We're a new PK3 family at the MO campus and I was given a flyer about International Day when I went in to drop off the enrollment paperwork. It's Saturday, May 13 from 10-2 and will have "face painting, snow cones, popcorn, and carnival games," in addition to a primary show (10-11) and an elementary show (1-2) according to the flyer. It says that families are encouraged to bring a picnic blanket and dress up in cultural wear. This seems like something that totally could/should be sent by email, but I guess, welcome to LAMB!

We've been at the school for six years and I remember being in your shoes years ago, anxious for any and all information leading up to the first day of school.

International Day is a celebration for students to present dances and other performances they've been practicing for months. Incoming families like yours are more than welcome, but the school's communication focus has been directed at current families since those are the students who will performing. Once your child begins in the fall and you're enrolled in the the school wide communication system, you'll start receiving regular communication from the school about these type of events.

We also received the flyer when we enrolled our PK3 student. I asked them if there were any events for new families, and that is what they gave us. I totally get it is aimed more toward current families, so not sure if it will be worth attending. I am looking for events to make new families feel welcome, much like many other neighborhood schools are already starting to have.

It is aimed towards current families, but new families are welcome to attend. It is a wonderful event and worth attending if you want to see what everyone talks about with the LAMB spirit of community. Months of preparation goes into the dance performances.

The PTO has organized playground meetups in late summer. I would expect that to happen again.

Are you following LAMB's Facebook page? That's another way to engage and stay informed.

Helpful tip about FB, thank you! Looking forward to playground meetups.

LAMB is not known for having a professional communications model. In fact, it is one of its Achilles Heels. So the fact that anything like this is leaking out on DCUM does not surprise me IN THE LEAST. Great school because of its education model and FANTASTIC teachers, but shitty communications model and seriously lacking in transparency.

If LAMB were to consolidate to one campus, it would not be before 2018 year, not upcoming fall. If they announce in next couple of months, there would be more than sufficient notice for parents. Esp. when you think about last summer when several charter schools only announced in the summer after families had committed that they would move for the start of the school year. The school needs to have something concrete to announce, before they can announce it. Whether it is in Ward 4 or elsewhere, there is a clear advantage to having 1 campus and all the LAMB families including myself would be pleased about that. So, let's just relax!

Agree with the point about relaxing. Disagree that it's more important to have one campus. If you make the school essentially inaccessible for a huge percentage of families, it's essentially expelling these kids. At the very least it's putting them at a huge disadvantage.

LAMB had roughly the same geographic distribution as it does now when Missouri was the only campus. So their actual experience doesn't support your theory that it would be inaccessible for people outside of Ward 4. For all you know they may wind up closer to transit routes and be MOrE accessible to all.

If LAMB is consolidating to one campus in Ward 4, my bet is that they are moving to the NCC facility at 6200 2nd Street NW.

Except that that children are coming off of common lottery waitlists all summer and people are turning down other schools on the assumption that they will be able to attend LAMB. If there is information that can be shared with some parents it should be shared with all parents.

Call and ask the principal or exec director.

Except that lamb was granted the Walter Reed expansion based on them expanding the locations throughout the city to give greater access to their unique program. They can't turn around a year later and say "just kidding parents!!!!!!"

Furthermore you're using outdated information from 10 years ago. The traffic in the city has increased exponentially. And lamb parents who were unwilling to increase their driving time were told they could use the South Dakota campus for the foreseeable future.

Have these people learned nothing about transparency?

No, they haven't learned about transparency. Maybe their new relationship with Charter Board Partners will help with that. It's needed.

But they were approved for the WR space to create more total seats in their school. Which they did.

Unless the consolidation were to REDUCE the number of seats -- or locate on Chevy Chase Circle -- you aren't going to see the PCSB oppose it.

There is nothing concrete to share. There is a possibility of a move in 2018, that is all. There has always been a possibility of a move to consolidate - LAMB has been clear about that and when you choose LAMB or honestly any charter school in the city, you are taking the risk that the campus may move. If you don't want that risk, you should choose your neighborhood public school. When there is something firm, I'm sure they'll tell us. Are you expecting the administration to share with us every time they visit a potential property or put in a bid for a property? For comparison, when my employer, a law firm decided to move us to a new part of the city, there wasn't some employee vote on the issue. They decided and let us know. Of course, here there will be public comment, charter board approval etc. My point is just that we have to trust that administration is working on it and will let us know when appropriate.

Yes I do expect transparency from the School. I'm sorry that you work for a terrible employer who would do that. My law firm also moved and promised employees it would move to a location within a mile of the current spot. This is what Lee Montessori did a few months ago. Mundo Verde continues to subsidize buses to offset the difficulty with their move. Lamb is being their usual opaque selves and expecting people to be happy with it. This is ridiculous and I will be happy to gather a group to fight it.

After our experience earlier this year, lamb has lost all our trust. You're a fool to trust them too.
