Tell us about Kenyon...

No way. Kenyon is clearly a half-tier below at a minimum. US News ranks Carleton 9th, Grinnell 13th, and Kenyon 30th. Carleton's admission rate is 21 percent, Grinnell is 19, and Kenyon is 37. Carleton's endowment is $1.1 billion, more than double Kenyon's $429 million, while Grinnell's endowment is an astonishing $2.1 billion.

No comparison.

I agree. Kenyon has improved over the years but is not in the same group as Carleton and Grinnell.

Seems to have better name recognition.

It's more of a walled garden for wealthy kids, good buzz among parents.

AD at Kenyon has worked hard to develop relationships with private school ADs. Kids from GDS, Sidwell and Maret send grads there every year. Even a few from the "more conservative" privates like Landon, Prep and STA/NCS feed there.

It’s more like Disney’s version of what a college campus should look like.

Kenyon is a top one per center school. There’s an article (maybe NYT?) from a few years ago listing schools with the wealthiest families and Kenyon was one of the top ten or so schools in that regard. Surprised me why so many wealthy East and West coast families would flock to a flyover area. But thems the facts.

Allison Janney and that dude who created Calvin and Hobbes are alums. It's a pretty artsy place.

No, regular decision. He was class of 2021 (which my sister said was a harder than usual year for admissions).

I see your Allison Janney and raise you a Paul Newman (‘49).

DC will probably ED, though keeps going back/forth with Carlton/Grinnell. 34 ACT and 3.6 GPA (no AP/honors classes @ school) - GPA on upward trajectory after a difficult first semester of HS. Good ECs, full pay. A long shot, but his counselor thinks he has a good shot.

While not interested in CS, does give DC pause. Have tried to explain that would matter if DC wanted to go into that field. DH, who attended a top LAC, perceives Kenyon with better name recognition, says he never heard of Grinnell until last few months.
