I Miss Target!

I said this a few pages back, and I will say it again.

The OP will not go through on the threat. In addition, Target is not going to go out of business because of one person. People shop there for a variety of reasons, whether it is food shopping or because one isn't a fan of Wal-Mart or other competitors.

And I'll say it again: I absolutely will. And just FYI, the signatures on the petition are up to something like 1.2 million people now. The stock at Target is down more than 2.5 billion dollars, as of Friday.

If even just a tenth of these people go through on the "threat," as you call it, Target will definitely suffer for this for some time to come.

+ 1. This policy change has been the best for my budget!

Maybe you've never had an encounter with a weirdo before - someone who chased you or flashed you or peeked in your window. I think many women have had run ins with creeps before so it isn't some laughable imaginary fear for us.

I have! People like that don't care about store policies. They definitely don't care about store policies that have always been in place and are just being re-announced. You're dreaming if you think a changing room policy is going to affect lawless criminals.

Um, until this policy was "re-announced" for whatever reason it would have been weird to see a man walk into the ladies room. Now? Who knows.

Still weird to see a man walk into the ladies room. Not weird to see a transwoman, or a ciswoman who has short hair and wears a T-shirt and athletic shorts in the ladies room.

So- stay afraid op. Shit is scary out there!

You are incredibly selfish. Is that all you really care about -- shorter lines for yourself? You must be part of the me generation.

I prefer the pp who is selfish to a bunch of bigoted, paranoid, assholes.

So, are you also not shopping at Old Navy, GAP, J Crew, or any number of other stores that don't have gender-segregated dressing rooms? Or any of these pro-trans companies, including Apple, McDonalds, Google, and Facebook? http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2016/04/26/all-the-things-you-can-no-longer-buy-if-you-re-really-boycotting-trans-friendly-businesses.html

I'm just not clear on the terms of the boycott.

Why do people go to Target anyway? The clothes are trash there, and the rest you can find elsewhere.

I know, WTF. I don't think I've ever seen a gendered fitting room except for those awful ones at the bargain stores where the whole thing is open. I sometimes bring my husband into the fitting room to get his opinion. This happens all the time.

+2. I buy way too much stuff each time I go to Target. I find I'm rethinking my shopping habits completely because of this, and that's a good thing.

A transwoman dressed like a woman and acting like a woman is not going to stand out at all. A man walking into a ladies room is something different. I've never heard the term ciswoman, not sure what that is.

A ciswoman is a biological woman who identified as female. Probably most of us on this board are ciswomen.

Like all that money they lost when they stopped gendered toy aisles? One tenth of those people MIGHT go through with it. But for a month or two max and then they'll find their next thing and move on.

You do realize that you and your daughter have more risk from white heterosexual males who use the men's room and are also boycotting Target, right?

Anonymous
I literally don't think I've ever seen separate gender fitting rooms except the open ones at the old-school Filene's 20 years ago.

Where do these even exist?

I would bet 90% of those people that are signing the boycott are doing it because they feel "compelled" to.

Secondly, the stock would have drop a lot more before a difference is made:
http://www.christianpost.com/news/target-stock-prices-plummet-1-million-strong-boycott-transgender-bathroom-policy-163160/

The Family Policy Institute of Washington reported that the company's stock fell from $84.10 per share on April 19 to roughly $79.36 on Friday, explaining that a loss of $4.74 per share "would represent a corporate loss of over $2.5 billion," if constant.

To the others that claim they spend too much money at Target, ever heard of comparison shopping? Most stores run the same sales over and over again, so more than likely, you are not missing anything. For the record, I don't get much at Target.
