I Miss Target!

And Old Navy, too.

No, actually, I don't think they did at all. I think they have been blindsided by this as evidenced by 1) their stock dropping 6% since the policy was announced and 2) the manager at the store I spoke to (CH) stammering over canned talking points and not being able to give a clear explanation when I (politely) asked about it.

This. A feeble minded person who doesn't understand what's a threat and what's not.

Target also has had some unisex dressing rooms for years. Ask for their stats on incidents and I bet it's few if any.

What else is there to say to someone who can't grasp reality?!?

The filming was the crime! This could still happen. There are creeps everywhere and they don't obey the law.

These are skills she needs to develop anyways.

Your fears are overblown.

Thank you, but I think you're wrong. And why should a group of giggly teen girls not be able to enjoy their outing at Target, just because they no longer feel safe in the fitting room? Why should they be the ones who have to compromise?

(And, by the way, it's "anyway," not "anyways," just FYI.)

Fitting room stalls and bathroom stalls are private. There's no one in there with you. What, exactly, are you afraid of? Someone crawling under the locked door and molesting your ankles?

Yes, of course there is always the risk of creeps hiding in dressing rooms at Target and I guess anywhere else for that matter. The difference is that now, they are welcome there and -- at least according to the manager I spoke briefly with at the CH store -- there is "really nothing they can do about it." I took that to mean that the person at the entrance of the female dressing room door has no authority to say, "excuse me sir, the men's fitting room is over there," to at least call attention to women who may be in the dressing room and not be comfortable, that a man is trying to enter. (Does that make sense?!)

If some dude in drag named "Charity Case"
Wants to head in and try on a Merona cardi, I say let 'em on in. Then I'm gonna recomend a tasteful scarf to set off their highlights.

I agree, OP. It is an effort on Target’s part to be politically correct. All it will take is one well-advertised “incident” for others to take caution.

Of course it is. A stupid, misguided one that has backfired on them big time. They have no idea who their true demographic shopper is.

The true creeps and criminals are not hiding in Target where there are cameras and good lighting. They are picking up your teens off the street, right of college campuses, after parties, and other areas where your teen is vulnerable.

He's not dumb enough to attack a group of loud girls in the middle of a store.

No, they don't. But if there is a sign and thus a policy that women try on clothes here, and men try on clothes there, then the attendant at either door has the authority to stop someone of the wrong gender from entering in the first place. As of now, that cannot happen.
