I love my Columbia Heights store and typically spend $250 or so a month there, between kids items, laundry detergent, etc. But, until the new corporate policy on unisex fitting rooms changes, I will not be back.
To me, this is over the edge. I can accept (reluctantly, I admit) unisex bathrooms because I get that people are typically in and out, with one purpose in mind. Fitting rooms, on the other hand, are something else. My teen DD and her friends love to go in and try on clothes, debate between the green and yellow shirt, etc. They spend more time in fitting rooms than I ever would, but it's all part of the fun for them in a "Target Run." Can anyone honestly see how this does not have the potential for major safety issues? Never done this before, but I'm now part of the boycott. Hello, CVS, Wal-greens and.... Wal-Mart? |
| Bye Felicia! |
| Safety? |
| I use Amazon instead. Why go to a store? |
| Your fears are strange. |
| I am genuinely asking....why do you think that there is a new safety issue because of this policy? Wasn't there always a risk of creeps hiding in a dressing room at Target? Isn't that a completely separate issue from unisex dressing rooms? |
| That store is so crowded anyway. Glad there'll be at least one less person there. |
Yes, of course there is always the risk of creeps hiding in dressing rooms at Target and I guess anywhere else for that matter. The difference is that now, they are welcome there and -- at least according to the manager I spoke briefly with at the CH store -- there is "really nothing they can do about it." I took that to mean that the person at the entrance of the female dressing room door has no authority to say, "excuse me sir, the men's fitting room is over there," to at least call attention to women who may be in the dressing room and not be comfortable, that a man is trying to enter. (Does that make sense?!) |
Good point! I guess I'm thinking more about DD and friends, who love to try on clothes at Target. I agree, not my thing, but... |

No one here cares where you shop and no one cares that you miss Target. You think Target didn't factor in the pearl clutchers when they implemented this policy?

Really? http://ktla.com/2013/05/14/da-cross-dressing-man-secretly-videotaped-women-in-macys-bathroom/#ixzz2TKsMicgJ |
| The fitting rooms at the Gap and H&M are unisex and have been so for years. |
| I'm just glad I don't have to try clothes on next to you. You're are the unsafe threat to Society. |
Np and I still don't understand. There are stalls right? |
|
So the man would be a few stalls over. Teach your daughter basic safety, chose a stall close to the front. Don't go into the dressing room as a giggly group of teen girls.
These are skills she needs to develop anyways. Your fears are overblown. |
