I'm not shopping at Target anymore. You better believe that other companies are watching people's reactions to Target and waiting to decide what to do about their bathrooms.

From the petition: "This means a man can simply say he "feels like a woman today" and enter the women's restroom...even if young girls or women are already in there."

Being a transgender individual does not at all mean "feeling like a woman today." Plus, any person who goes into any bathroom for the purpose of harassment or violence is breaking the law. Period. Allowing trans individuals to use the bathroom does not and will not change that.

Of course it does. It's just a matter of nuance. Just like the PP who "feels like a 70 year old today," even though s/he looks about 30, and expects entitlements like the senior citizens discount. Why not? If it's all based on feelings, who is to state otherwise?

Dude, I get that you have no idea what the life of a trans person is like based on the fact that you think this is a valid point. It is not, Trans people aren't changing their minds day to day like trying on a new pair of shoes. I get that you think it is not worth educating yourself over but maybe stop listening to the most ignorant things you can find for resources.

Question for you: Why do you assume that this poster is the one who needs to be educated? Did it ever occur to you that perhaps you are wrong on this issue? That, in fact, transgenderism is a very serious mental disorder and something to be treated as such, as opposed to asking the rest of the world to just go along and pretend that red is blue and green is yellow?

I don't think it is for you or I to determine if the way an entire (marginalized) group of people feel and believe it is wrong. I just know that it is not a belief taken lightly, just as your beliefs are important to you. I would stand up for ANYONE who would mock someone's strong beliefs, and defend their rights as citizens of this country.

If someone where to say your belief in god was a mental illness and it was a simple as getting up and deciding you were a believer that day, or not- I would defend you because it is the right thing to do

Also, you should have read my post more clearly- I didn't demand this person educate themselves, merely pointed out that they might want to want to research their position before taking one.

There are videos of men (that aren't transgender) asking target employees if they can use the women's bathroom because they "feel like a woman today". You don't get it, and I'm just as surprised as anyone else that target would allow that. Plus, they will talk to any woman if she doesn't like the policy, but they won't stop any random man from going in the women's bathroom.

See target telling men they can use a women's bathroom:

Thanks for posting; this is hilarious. These poor Target managers! They did not sign up for this!

Don't feel like reading through 18 pages, so this has probably already been mentioned...

I seem to remember unisex fitting rooms at Abercrombie and American Eagle from when my now 27 and 23 year old daughters were buying clothes. That had to be at least 10 years ago when I was taking them shopping.

If you are so concerned with their safety, go with them. If a pervert wants to "get" them, they'll do it whether it's unisex or not.

But, PP, just think of all of the opportunities for panicking you missed out on, because you didn't know that you were supposed to panic! I hope that you will be able to make up for that now.

Yeah, see - the 'American Family Association' is testing out Target stores. This not for a second a believable or honest posting.

To me, this is over the edge. I can accept (reluctantly, I admit) unisex bathrooms because I get that people are typically in and out, with one purpose in mind. Fitting rooms, on the other hand, are something else. My teen DD and her friends love to go in and try on clothes, debate between the green and yellow shirt, etc. They spend more time in fitting rooms than I ever would, but it's all part of the fun for them in a "Target Run." Can anyone honestly see how this does not have the potential for major safety issues?

Never done this before, but I'm now part of the boycott. Hello, CVS, Wal-greens and.... Wal-Mart?

Complete and utter dishonest bulls**t post.

Yeah - see - they're from Mississippi. They've never been to the Columbia Heights Target store in their lives. No teen of theirs is walking past the gay bars to stroll into the Target, feeling put out by the transgendered people.

I used non-gendered fitting rooms when I was in high school, 30+ years ago (when my only reference to transgender issues was the Rocky Horror Picture Show). What danger I was in, without even realizing it!

The only scary men going into the women's bathroom are from AFA. Now those people freak me out.

If I see a Dugger in the bathroom with me....yikes!

I agree with this PP that the OP concocted a fake message. I don't believe the OP would be caught dead in the Columbia Heights Target, I don't believe the poster has a teen daughter, and I believe the difference between the OP boycotting Target and not boycotting is indistinguishable given that the poster probably never shops there.

Therefore, I am locking the thread.
