I have had a "extra-terrestrial" visit from a dead in-law, and haven't told anybody. WWYD?

I'm not some stupid psychic lady or whatever. And I don't believe ghosts make phone calls. But someone did.

OP Im with you. Are you feeling better now that you told your husband? How does he feel about the POD call?
Anonymous
OP you asked originally "what would you do"?

I would probably search my cousin in laws name for evidence of another person with that name, but if that trail ran cold, I think I would let it go. If your husband was not able to get any more information, then there is nothing left to do about the one thing that really pushed this into a new level of weirdness.

I would probably do what I and others suggest and just check the overall safety level of the house with respect to things like fire alarms, gas leaks, radon, etc.

I would probably take some comfort in the fact that if I had not personally felt there was danger in the house due to some presence, that this is signficant. It is possible that the fear centers of your brain just got tripped by a combination of a very realistic and intersting dream regarding the carbon monoxide detector overlapping with a call whose true origins may never be know but could be a scam call, coincidence, etc.

As I type this that last part does not totally sit right with me either, but barring any details you can provide about what info your husband got from the POD company it would appear he didnt get anything at all except verification about the name of the person who called. Its just a dead end. But it would bother me as well. But for how long I cant say.

The thing is, while I do believe there are things we cannot yet explain that have to do with forces or presences that are not corporeal, I also have a side to me that, barring an actual threat, tends to move on.

For example, one time my TV came on late night for a fraction of a second, to static, and turned off again. Now, that really should have bothered me. I was alone in the house. Its like a scene from a ghost movie. But honestly I just went "huh, that is interesting." It never happened again and I never before or since had any paranormal experience in the house. I dont even consider what happened paranormal. Im pretty sure there is an explanation. But when I tell people about that, they get a visibly freaked out look on their face. Whereas I, who has no problem believeing there are things like spirits or ghosts, just went to bed figuring that if this was going to be some kind of ongoing thing, I would find out. But I was not going to lose sleep over it! This was over 10 years ago. Still have the same TV.

So, you can take some comfort in knowing that you might be able to settle into living with this mystery call unsolved at some point. As to the haunting status of your home, really take some inventory and ask yourself what has happened that makes you feel this, and if its really a problem. Or if its just this one dream that has you spooked, understandbly!

I have a relative who is fairly certain she lives in a haunted house. Others in the family have experienced odd things too. Taps turning on and off, cupboard doors opening and closing, missing shoes showing up easy to see.. a lot of things over the years.

Never once has the ghost/ghosts made a phone call.

Maybe you have had an odd experience, but I'm thinking now that you've embellished it beyond what you can continue with.

Same here! Sometimes there's only ONE SOCK from a pair after doing laundry, and then months later I'll find the orphan sock all balled up behind the washing machine. I swear I didn't put it there. It is just SO WEIRD. I'm going to give Barb Mallon a ring right now.

The only problem that we have had with the house is we believe it could be haunted. It is a large, older home. I dont know about any negative history about the house, but we have never perceived a threat from what could be living here.

Could you be more specific about the POD company- did they verify the name and did they have a way to find out who called?

YES! The name the POD company had was Barb Mallon (who, if you act now, will give you a spiritual cleanse for only $100! Bargain! )

Can you post the code for this? I have some serious issues in my house that I'd like her to advise me on. I already posted about missing socks in the laundry, but I'm also dealing with other things like mail that sometimes goes to my neighbors and weird shit like that. Sometimes the dog barks like there's someone walking by the yard, but there isn't. I'd feel much safer with my kids sleeping in this house knowing what all this is really about. Thanks, PP!!

Dun, dun, dun. The plot thickens. What will happen next in the house filled with noxious fumes, terrorized by aliens and deranged clowns, and a efficient ghost scheduler? Will peapod show up with a delivery?

If peapod knocks, don't answer. I really do believe in all this psychic shit but I'm sorry, I draw the line at "knocking on wood" as a good defense against a mob of angry clowns. Open the door for the pea pod delivery and they will just rush right in.

PP you quoted. Wrong scenario. I would explain it but won't bother because you're just here for snark.

OP, you've asked what others would do. I would write the phone call off to an odd coincidence. Really, what else can it be?

The dreams (yes, I do believe they are dreams) are trying to tell you something. You have double checked the safety of your house. I have no idea what to suggest about what you saw in your dream because you won't describe it. Clowns? Ghosts? Something to do with drugs/illegal activity? Are you thinking along the lines of a Poltergeist? I don't know. It's hard to answer with what one would do without knowing the full extent of the problem.

I am glad you told your husband.

She posted her ad and left.

"I'd also find a psychic medium and try to connect with the dead cousin and find out what he's trying to tell you. Barb Mallon in Chantilly is reputable. She does phone consults which I think are about $100. Maybe she wo fit you in during this emergency situation."

Nobody needs to be psychic to see that you're being a jerk. Don't believe anything OP says? Great. Why stick around reading the thread then?
