I read the Daily Kos every day. I never see threads of violence. Can you point out any that I missed. I'll wait for you to get back to me, thanks.

On the other hand, RedState blogger Erick Erickson says that if a census taker came to his house, he would "pull out my wife's shotgun and see how that little ACS twerp likes being scared at the door."

It's doesn't say much for Erick that he needs a gun to scare a "twerp". I wonder what he would need to confront a non-twerp?

I'm not the same poster, but I read the Daily Kos fairly often and don't appreciate Markos Moulitsas referring to Americans who are conservative as the American Talliban.

I am sure that that is a sign of respect
After all, America with its glory and might has not been able to beat them. They are fighters like the world has never seen before.
I am sure you also are brilliant with what you do, if someone calls you that

I've never heard anyone speak so highly of that group. Interesting perspective.

Again, the point in question is whether the Right elevates their extremists to positions of influence, and the Left effectively shuns them. This seems like a no-brainer, but I'm open to evidence to the contrary. I'm not seeing any in the disjointed stream of platitudes above.

I think you are confusing talk-show hosts with positions of power. The only extremist that has gotten elected recently from either party is Al Franken. Pelosi and Reid and others have made some horrible statements over the years, but I don't consider them extremists.

These "talk show hosts" as you call them lead the unelected wing of the Republican party. Their violent rhetoric is never repudiated, and they're embraced as heroes by millions of Republicans and far-right Americans. There's nothing like that on the left.

Finally, as always we hear a lot of assertions, but no meat ("Olbermann's as bad as Beck!" "Pelosi and Reid and others have made some horrible statements over the years..."). Not the same. Have some intellectual integrity, and make an argument, or admit there's no equivalency.

Jeez, you are asking far too much from that poster.

THAT's what passes for an extremist? An ex-comedian?

Hmm, Daily Kos. Well, let's see there was the "Dead To Me" post they rushed to scrub from their site after the shooting. And what's this I hear about Kos having it's own bulls eye rhetoric with Giffords on the list?

Dang, crying baby. Back for more examples later.

not sure what could be more vicious than rhetoric trying to tie the murder of six innocent people, including a little girl, to an innocent political movement or innocent political leaders. that, to me, is hateful rhetoric. honestly.

Uh, wrong and wrong. There was no call for violence in the "Dead To Me" post which was not an official post in any case. It was comparable to a thread started by any random poster here. That poster removed the post himself after the shooting, along with an apology for posting it in the first place. As you know well, "Dead To Me" means that you will no longer recognize a person, not that you want to do them harm. The fact that this is the most violent thing you can identify shows just how little with which you have to work. You won't find anything on Kos remotely similar to Erickson's threat to chase census workers with a shotgun.

Kos didn't have a bulls eye. That was the work of some right-winger who Photoshopped a forged graphic.

So, your examples of violent rhetoric on the Daily Kos are, in one case, not violent, and in the other, made up. Get back to me when you have an actual example.
