It has been retracted that she has died on CNN and MSNBC is had someone from the hospital saying that she is currently in surgery.

They encourage anger and hatred, and they use violent imagery to make their political points. Then one day someone takes it to its logical conclusion, and the politicians responsible will deny that they played a role.

I'm sure Palin's Facebook page has removed the graphic and put up a very sincere-ish (sincere-y?) condolence message.

Cnn has retracted the confirmation of her death. She is still alive. Exactly as PP said. People stir the hatred--draw a map with gun sight targets on it and put it on their idiotic Facebook page--and then wash their hands of the easily predictable violence that follows as a result.

It was at a political rally. The man walked up behind her, put a gun up a food away from her head, and then started firing.

If you watch the guy's rambling youtube nonsense (sounds insane), he mentions problems with the 8th district. He said he's a military recruit, was annoyed they gave him a Bible (seems to be a nonbeliever of anything), and defined himself as a terrorist.

Thanks for sitting through that & reporting back--I went to the YouTube page, but realized I had no stomach to actually sit through what he was saying.

pretty sure this nutcase had nothing to do with the tea party or sarah palin, but thanks for jumping to the wrong conclusons.

Giffords was about as conservative a democrat could get - anti-illegal immigration, pro gun ownership, etc. very much a blue dog.

Oh PLEASE! It's a metaphor. As stupid as Palin is, she is in NO way responsible for this sick man's opinions. I watched some of his ramblings too, and he was upset about a lot of things, but not that she was a democrat.

In fact, he may have targeted her because of her religion (she is Jewish). Or maybe a million other things - he's CRAZY.

Here's what the Atlantic just published:

A Jared Lee Loughner who had a MySpace page cited Mein Kampf as one of his favorite books, according to the Huffington Post, which has been taken down. Giffords is Jewish.

A YouTube account registered to a person of the same name -- Jared Loughner -- had several videos on it ranting about currency, English speakers and mind control techniques.

17:09 again. Good choice. It made me pretty ill to my stomach to watch, a view into a real person's insanity. Very scary.
