This sentiment is not shared by most of the voting population given the results of 2016 and 2024.

Clinton, Harris, and Whitmer are all weak candidates for various reasons. But not because they are women. They just didn't click. Meanwhile, a black man with the middle name Hussein was a very successful two term president. And would easily win today if he could run again. Americans are perfectly capable of voting for candidates that don't fit the white man box. But the candidates have to be good and have some charisma and generate excitement.

And we still are not seeing someone emerge. Newsom is a shapeshifter with a sleazy history and is way too obsessed with social media. I have met frogs with more charisma than Mark Kelly. Kamala Harris couldn't even make it to the Iowa caucus when she ran for president. Pritzker is an inherited billionaire and do we really another one? People's views on the billionaire class and Israel have changed 180 degrees over the past couple of years, both among liberals and conservatives. This is going to be a tough election cycle for Jews, including Shapiro. Buttigieg is just a leisurely fellow floating through life with his Harvard and McKinsey pedigree. Being gay doesn't even matter. Not a prime time man.

There's no candidate yet. And typical of Democrats, they seem to rely on Trump being unpopular. But that is exactly how someone like Tucker Carlson becomes president. Democrats already made that mistake and threw in the deeply unpopular, 82 year old Joe Biden, which is why have this mess. Democrats really need to focus on getting a compelling candidate, even if it's a green alien from Mars of indeterminate gender.

You act like there should be a candidate already. It is super early. Just because we want it to be over doesn't mean there isn't a lot of time left, plenty for someone to emerge.

My favorites are the people who have fought back, among whom Mark Kelly is the most dignified. But I would also very gladly vote for Chris Murphy or Osoff.

Murphy/Kelly ticket. Georgia needs Ossoff. Can Pennsylvania find someone to primary the Neanderthal currently cosplaying as a Democrat.

Conor Lamb?

He is currently practicing law in private practice. However, it looks like he is stepping light back into politics, so maybe he will give it another run with enough support.

Conor Lamb has stayed visible and vocal this entire time while Fetterman has been sh!tting the bed. It’s pretty great. But he’s not ready to be President.

Harris is going to be responsible for a MAGA CA governor and has done nothing to deserve another chance at POTUS, so if she runs it’s all about ego. Her chance is over. She was a damn fool to not take the governorship.

Let’s have Pete though.
how is she responsible for an election that has not happened yet?

Because she would have easily won and the Dems are in disarray there. Maybe one will pull out, but at this point...

Katie Porter said she wouldn't have run if Kamala threw her hat in.

Porter was already running before Harris decided anything. She launched her campaign more than a year ago.

Katie Porter is a trainwreck.

no one from the coasts, no one of color, no one with AIPAC issues.

I don’t know if this was pointed out yet….but saying someone should not be a presidential candidate because of the color of their skin is RACIST.
False. Saying "I won't vote for someone because of their skin color" is racist. Saying "someone shouldn't be a presidential candidate because hillbillies in swing states won't vote for them because of their skin color and we'll be stuck with JD Vance as president" is just good planning.

DP. I totally disagree. Obama won two terms and last I checked, he's black.
I wasn't even thinking about black. I was thinking about Shapiro who I like a lot but, as a Jew, I'm confident crackers in rural swing states won't vote for him so I don't want him. It kills me but it is what it is.

Shapiro has a 66% approval rating in a swing state full of crackers.
I'd love to see a map of that. It's probably Philly, Pitt, Harrisburg, and their suburbs. The rest, not so much. And someone firebombed his house last year. Again, I like Shapiro a lot....like a lot. But a lot of the country doesn't because of his religion.

No one gives a dang about silly religions anymore. It's the 90s for God sakes grandpa. Just gives us someone who isn't elderly and or unhinged. Is that too much too ask?

This^. Someone young, mentally and physically healthy, intelligent, sensible, empathetic person who believes in peace, science and progress. Who isn't backed by big donors but common taxpayer. Someone who understands international relations and economy.

Yes, I know. She first said she would step down from her campaign if Harris entered the race. Then, she changed her tune. See Politico.

I wrote postcards for Porter and was delighted she won. But, she's turned out to be a disappointment, just like Harris.

I thought Gretchen was out. Yeah, Andy would be a good choice, but I fear he's too nice.

AOC cannot win middle America. I’m not even sure she can win some reliably Blue States. I would love for AOC to primary Chuck Schumer and become NY’s junior Senator.

I will do what I have to, but I think a lot of people don’t like Newsom. He is extremely wishy and kind of a slimeball.

An asshat on the left is what we need. I'll vote for Newsom. Who cares how sleazy he is?? He CANNOT be worse than the evil, corrupt grifting billionaire class that has taken over the federal government.

All I care is that a Democrat wins in 2028. And that Democrats take over the House and Senate this year and impeach and remove the insane potus.

And try and put in jail the criminals, starting with Noem and Bondi.

This, Democratic establishment wants an Israel first candidate and he'll be the perfect fit.

Isn’t that the current beef with Trump, he’s Israel first? So we just make the same mistakes again and again and then act all shocked when things are looking too familiar.

The dem establishment, corporate and consultant class are all in on Israel and AIPAC. They would rather throw the country over a cliff vs break with Israel. They will actually tell you that to your face. In the current climate that means the Dems can not win.

Maybe the progressive can break off to form a new party or something. Rahm Emanuel and Third Way are planning to spend 20 million against progressives because they do not support Israel. Everything go on and this is what the dems priority is.

We will have Tucker as president.

How are the Republicans to win then? They got us into a war with Iran in service to Israel. Facts will matter.

Look at the democrats. Which of the ones mentioned will break with Israel, purge the government of Trump followers(DOD, DOJ, ICE, FBI, ICE, etc), prosecute Trump’s family, etc? People needed to be arrested and tried- the agents who executed US citizens.

I will vote for ANYONE who will do this, including a Republican.

Boring white male, religious black Democrat

Both from the South, both are fairly moderate. Both could appeal to key Democratic constituents and Independents

I think a lot of people are going to have a strong desire for normalcy after 10+ years of political chaos. I have noticed that Beshear has been mostly been staying out of the way of national politics. (Unlike pritzker). This will probably be to his benefit when the time comes. People are going to want to shut the door on this era, and probably act like it never happened.

I disagree. I absolutely refuse to vote for someone who was silent.

Give me Chris Murphy, or AOC, or Melanie Stansbury, or John Ossoff.

There is zero chance I will support Kamala, who had brunch while the country was burning (and I was a huge supporter of hers).

Yeah, agreed. No one is voting for a return to quiet subservience. A great 2028 litmus test for candidates is going to be how they treated this period in time and how they speak now about prosecuting and arresting the people in this administration once back in power.

So, more drama?

Prosecution of criminals isn't drama. Neither is restoring the economy, creating jobs, protecting the planet, and restoring all that was broken.

But, if a future candidate was sitting on the sidelines, then they didn't rise to the occasion to save our democracy and demand accountability.

I want a candidate like Bill Clinton.

He is a mess of a human, but a genius politician.
He won despite all his human flaws. Twice.

I want a winner. And that means someone who can reach out to the MAGA bubbas of this world.

Who can do that?
