If the entire country was wracked with violence in the streets, with people rioting and stealing food, everyone staying home from work (either in solidarity with gov employees or out of fear of civil unrest), republican politicians being attacked everywhere, no one able to travel, and curfews and lockdowns imposed, it’s likely that Trump would be forced to resign to restore order. It’s a solid, viable plan. Or it was anyway. Now it’s gone.

They were annoyed that all the No Kings protests were peaceful, during the day, and attended by grandparents and young families, so they didn’t get to send out the military and armed police against the citizens. If the situation deteriorated to the point you described (curfews, politicians being attacked on the streets, no travel etc.) Trump and the admin would collectively pee their pants with excitement because that is what they want and what they need to take away our last remaining Constitutional rights and install a repressive police state. Trump is absolutely not resigning over a government shut down, even a long one lasting months, because he and the Republicans do not care and aren’t playing by any kind of established “rules” or “norms.”

My advice is to get acquainted with and join a local direct-action group rather than posting on line. There’s groups in DC, Arlington, Alexandria, Tacoma Park, Silver Spring, Bethesda, Rockville, etc. You’re able to have more frank discussions with people in person than with anon strangers on line. There are too many fools and disruptive trolls to allow for serious conversations about planning actions. So join a local group and get in the fight.

Jay Jones - VA Attorney General just elected -- was pretty specific about it. And Virginia democrats supported it. He said the quiet part out loud and they shrugged. So there's the answer.
