Long may the shutdown continue

That’s fine. But just understand that you’re willing to miss your flight because Senator Schumer is trying to avoid a primary.

LOL. That one's too runny, it won't stick to the wall. Try a new recipe.

And after that a round of golf, a reivew of all the gold items he own, and a parade of females.

Also remember these ACA cut are about 7 billion a year. Trump increased farmer handouts by that much.

Yep. This was a runaway train that wasn't going to stop any other way.

Ham-fisted, ungainly, and awkward, but this shutdown was all that was left to stop it. I hate that. I agree with it, and I support it as a federal worker, but I hate it. I hate that it came to this.

I'm ready to see it through, though.

This political cartoon from 1906 (William Balfour Ker) is still in the US Library of Congress. For now.

The Rs made assertions based on the idea that they have all the power and didn’t need to talk to the other side. So they are free to get everything through with the votes they have. Okay, but they don’t have the votes. Civics and business 101 says that if you need the votes you need to find some kind of compromise in order to get the votes they need. It’s why parliamentary systems are great or really annoying depending on your perspective. They need to find enough smaller voices and give them something to get their votes. The Ds gave them the votes with the promise of “trust us, we’ll talk about it” back in the spring. And then that didn’t happen. So now the Rs made the bed they’re in. And the recent elections show that the population is coming down on that side.

Or that Mike Johnson doesn't want to bring the House back because he would have to swear in a certain member that was elected almost 2 months ago. We can do this all day.

He will do it after the Dec 3 election in TN.

This, completely.

I need the GOP to introduce a bill that will get votes. I need to get back to work. I’m beginning to get anxiety over the growing backlog that will greet me when I return. Get it together Congress.

No we can’t do this all day. Because the Speaker said about a thousand times the House will be brought back into session 48 hours after the Senate passes the clean CR.

That would require the House pass a clean CR. What they passed that is sitting at the senate is not a clean CR. Add to it that teh CR was supposed to be a bridge to passing a full budget bill. That bill should have been ready now for debate and passage, but since the House hasn't been in session, the bill is not ready. That is not the Dems fault.

Trump is the one telling the states they cannot fill the gap to fund SNAP in wake of the Federal government refusing to do it. Is Trump a democrat now?

You are sick. The holidays are coming up. People are flying to see their family, some of whose they only see a few times a year.

The democrats need to get their asses in gear and sign the clean cr, or be removed from office (forcibly, if need be). They are destroying the holidays for so many Americans.

Everyone with half a brain knows that there isn’t a clean CR. The Big Ugly Bill made the previous CR obsolete when Voight picks and chooses which government appropriated funds to use and which funds to divert to other projects. Not a clean CR. Also, the ugly bill impacted congressional appropriations from the March CR. Not a clean CR, but you have to be fully functional to recognize that it isn’t.

That’s fine. But just understand that you’re willing to miss your flight because Senator Schumer is trying to avoid a primary.

There isn't a clean CR. Stop watching Fox News.

The Democrats don't need to do anything. The Republicans can pass this with their 51 votes if they wanted to.

Travel is one thing, but SNAP benefits and healthcare premiums are important to people already living on the edge. These people have my entire sympathy, even though... I do think the shutdown has to continue before the GOP gets it.
