This is not unique to black students of course. If black students are not interested in schools that are only 2% black, where is the line for white people? Lots of white flight data to suggest white people want an environment that is wayyyyy whiter than 2% white. |
Vote with your feet, not your mouth. |
Urban public k-12 has been almost completely in the hands of Democrats for the past 50 years. If it’s substandard, Democrats are responsible. Despite thousands of research studies done by university professors, urban public k-12 results are getting WORSE. Yet university researchers & Democrat leaders in cities remain convinced they are on the right track. They scoff at any Republican who dares offer suggestions. This is a national disgrace. |
They’re in the right track for more power. They don’t give a shit about kids education, like at all. It’ll be so naive to believe they do. |
Actually the more poorly educated the kids, the easier they can brainwash them and gain more power. Just look at DCUM to see what this country has become. It’s hopeless. |
Most people (of all skin tones) do not enjoy the experience of multiculturalism. Revealed preferences. |
No one is “punishing black kids for having educated, involved parents” FFS. Someone asked why rich black kids shouldn’t get Ivy preference and this is the answer. A rich is a rich kid is a rich kid. Doesn’t matter what color. And it’s crazy that you are acting like black kids can’t make up a sizable portion of FIGLI or poor kids. They aren’t just looking for first gen immigrants - they are looking for poor kids. And last I checked, 74% of Black Americans didn’t have degrees. |
Gee, does the WSJ now publish an annual article about northern kids heading to southern flagships? Did one of the savviest authors in the college admissions space just publish a book about alternatives to Ivy+ schools? Of course none of this is overtly about white flight from predominantly Asian schools. Not in so many words. |
Many of the highest performing school districts, such as Palo Alto, are also run by Democrats. |
run by tiger moms ... not by the school districts |
School performance is largely determined by demographics. It’s not a pc thing to say but it’s true. |
Exactly. |
lol. Your whole argument is a lie. If it were true, red states would consistently rank higher in education metrics. Every one here knows the top states for education (born out by STANDARDIZED TESTING) are blue, blue and more blue. |
it's wealth or SES, not necessarily race, though there is that component. And cultural. Look at Stuy in NY. It's mostly Asian American students, and a high FARMs rate. Their parents scrimp and save to get tutors for their kids. They put a high priority on academics rather than sports. Also, not a PC thing to say. |
Do you look at the urban public school districts doing well or just complain about the dems? School districts are run by school boards. |
