You’re losing perspective. This was a letter about getting cell phones out of classrooms. Something that the majority of parents in Arlington want. You’re making a mountain out of a molehill. |
Except that there was a vocal opposition that felt that yes, cellphones should be out of the physical classroom, but a full day bell to bell policy was not developmentally appropriate, particularly in high school. Some parents also expressed concern about now being able to reach their kids during an emergency. I don't know if the "majority" of Arlington parents wanted it. Just Arlington Parents for Education who feels that they speak for all Arlington parents. They don't. And apparently June Prakash felt that the AEA should not only support this proposal, but co-sign a letter with APE. No thanks. Fortunately, I have another amazing candidate to vote for. |
I'm voting for Moe. I've met both candidates in a small group setting to hear about their views on different policies. I want more diversity on the board and I believe Moe has the background -- technical skills as well as a long history of collaboration across institutions -- to be an effective representative for Arlington. |
How do you figure a majority of parents wanted cell phones out of classrooms? Parents I know were either against a ban or don't really care. |

Voted for June. Telling friends and neighbors to do the same. |

Same. She’s a uniquely qualified candidate as an APS parent, APS teacher, and head of AEA who works so closely with teachers. She’s gotten a lot done in a short period of time there. Everyone who I know has worked with her says she’s an extremely hard worker and will jump right in. She’s been Visible at school board meetings for a very long time even before the AEA position. |
The Board has five white women serving. Arlington needs a Board that reflects its population. Moe is not only a long-time Arlingtonian and volunteer, but she has engaged with APS for years. I don't care about the endorsements. I voted for Moe because she's the best candidate. |
The school board needs someone who has worked in an APS school so I voted for June. |
You should at least get your facts straight. June is not a teacher, she never was. She was an instructional assistant. Since in your own words your claim that she is uniquely qualified was based on your mistaken belief that she is a teacher, maybe you should reconsider. I never saw her at a board meeting before she headed AEA. |
I know the role she has had because my kids went to Ashlawn. At the time June was an instructional assistant, she also floated to classrooms and took over long term sub roles when needed. She was a go to at the school. I truly do not understand your dig at instructional assistants. She was in the classroom, period. I know she was at board meetings because I saw her there with my own eyes. She was the most involved PTA president we ever had. |
I’m a parent of a current HS student. I support the ban, and don’t know many parents who don’t also support it. Also, all the teachers support it. APE sucks, Youngkin can get bent, but a stopped clock is right twice a day. |
