Four of us go inside. Wheel chair helper pushing grandmother and dragging one bag. My mom dragging another and me pushing the cart of bags. Say bye to my grandmother and walk back to my car to wait for my mother who is helping checking in my grandmother. I got back to my car and have a ticket. I am sure I was blocking for more then three minutes.

You should have been towed.

WTF

If you need to help you can drop off and then go park. Or bring another adult. This is airport 101.

And the short term parking is right across the road from the terminal at DCA! Would have cost like $4! Incredible

This person had help. Her mother was there and could have stayed with grandma on a bench with the luggage.

Ha ha even better. That extra 100 feet on the covered walkway a literal bridge too far.

She was asked to pull up, which she refused to do. She was asked to loop around, (5 minutes or less), she was told the first hour of parking in the garage was free. At no time was any of our traffic officers or myself rude. Furthermore, an eyewitness corroborated the traffic officer's account of the incident. At that time, the complainant brought up a race issue. Most of our TCOs are African American and blamed the incident on race. The complainant also said that the witness and the traffic officer were friends. I can assure everyone, they absolutely do not know each other.

Traffic at DCA is close to a saturation point. We understand concept of picking up and dropping off passengers and the officers are allowed reasonable judgement to get that accomplished. It's a tough balancing act and I am always open to suggestions on improving the process. Thanks for the comments.

Satire people.

Damn. OP, bey you didn’t see that coming. For your own sake, just fly out of IAD and BWI now in perpetuity. No sense is showing your face at DCA ever again. Shame on you.

Anonymous wrote:Sorry, OP. I'm calling BS. Unless the officer literally walked over to you as you pulled up, there's no way you were there for three minutes - that's not even enough time for her to notice you and walk over, let alone have a conversation long enough for you to refuse to move.

You pulled up and sent your kids inside to find their grandmother, which probably took a fair amount of time. And then grandmom, understandably, took a whole to walk out.

The curbside pickup is intended for people who are already there waiting. Not for those that have to be found inside first. You could have dropped off your kids and had them walk grandma out while you did another look of the airport. They could have found a bench to wait on if it took you longer than it took them.

In addition to being a security hazard, cars just sitting there and waiting around for passengers who are still inside the terminal really screw up the flow of traffic for the rest of us.

3 min is BS

And there’s never “literally no one there” at National when planes are landing.

Lesson learned OP — drop off kid and circle until they are by the curb and ready to be picked up.

Those who say 'Reagan' are probably trying to make 'National Landing' happen. It's not happening, Gretchen.

Let it go, grandma. Saying National makes you sound old.

I'll take sounding Old. Saying Reagan makes you should like you just moved here from Florida.

It’s been “Reagan” for 25 years. Get over it. (And yes, I lived here for decades before it was “Reagan.” Things change.

You cannot walk away from your car for literally ANY period of time. It is not short term parking.

Forget a citation, they should have mandatory prison sentences for the filth that do this.

OP sounds so entitled - can't stand selfish people like OP

Oh wow - you literally left your car at the terminal and went inside?! Now that is an entire level of nope! You deserved that ticket but deserved to have your car towed even more.
