If you are there long enough to be blocked in then you're there too long.

DP. It doesn't sound like you've been to a busy airport recently. You can get blocked in literally AS you are pulling up.

That said, I think OP is FOS and deserves the ticket.

Only if you pull too far in and the other cars pulling up after you sit around for loo long. You’re part of the problem.

No. The people stopping and loading 3 rows away from the curb (and blocking in rows 1 and 2) are the problem. If there isn’t space, don’t just make space by stopping in a traffic lane.

They have to stop out there because people like OP who are just sitting there for a long time.

She was asked to pull up, which she refused to do. She was asked to loop around, (5 minutes or less), she was told the first hour of parking in the garage was free. At no time was any of our traffic officers or myself rude. Furthermore, an eyewitness corroborated the traffic officer's account of the incident. At that time, the complainant brought up a race issue. Most of our TCOs are African American and blamed the incident on race. The complainant also said that the witness and the traffic officer were friends. I can assure everyone, they absolutely do not know each other.

Traffic at DCA is close to a saturation point. We understand concept of picking up and dropping off passengers and the officers are allowed reasonable judgement to get that accomplished. It's a tough balancing act and I am always open to suggestions on improving the process. Thanks for the comments.

Team Joseph!

No sympathy for you, OP. I wish they had impounded your car.

Same here, but really I want to know how on earth this thread came to the attention of MWAA police, and why they decided to publicly comment on it. Very unusual!

I'm sure local MWAA cops (or their spouses) read DCUM and it got sent around via email and text. It's probably viral within the department and everyone is having a good laugh in the break room at OP's expense.

I'm also Team Joseph. I've looped around DCA 3-4x when waiting for family to arrive at the curb because I know the car lineup is a sh#tshow. Hint: use the car rental inner loop if you need to kill time, as there isn't much traffic.

Good call on the spouses - willing to bet that's the origination point.

But still surprised the supervisor commented. But definitely impressed.

That’s also the express drop off area I believe.

No response, OP? I guess you're finally feeling some shame, and rightfully so.

I respect the hell out of the supervisor for weighing in!
And I wish more people like OP would get ticketed. It's so frustrated when cars are triple parked at the curb.

Feel for you OP. I just got my ticket from DCA. I stopped at terminal 1 and got a luggage cart ($6.00). Waited for my mom to get one of the wheel chair helpers for my grandmother. Four of us go inside. Wheel chair helper pushing grandmother and dragging one bag. My mom dragging another and me pushing the cart of bags. Say bye to my grandmother and walk back to my car to wait for my mother who is helping checking in my grandmother. I got back to my car and have a ticket. I am sure I was blocking for more then three minutes.

You can’t ever leave your car unattended at the curb. First time at the airport?

You should have been towed.
