Is Bullis the new Sidwell??

Many children at the Big 3 are not happy. I hear it all the time. They hate the pressure cooker environment and are not having an enjoyable high school experience. If students can attend schools like Bullis that are less of a pressure cooker environment and still get into top colleges, then many people will be picking schools like Bullis over the Big 3.

They get into top colleges mostly because their parents when to top colleges. The high school plays very little role in where a kid goes to college. The high school plays a big role in how well prepared a kid is for the rigors of college.

This "legacy" argument doesn't hold much wanter in 2023.

If I see one after this post, I’ll know it’s a Bullis troll.

And yet they can’t resist responding. So much privilege and so little self-awareness.

Bullis parent here and I can say that test optional has significantly improved the college acceptances! Look at 2018 and 2019 data. Bullis inflates grades. I’m fine with it. But let’s not even compare Bullis to Sidwell. Most kids ( mine included) did not get in Sidwell and the top schools. It was a backup but my kid is happy and it ended well. It will never be Sidwell.

+1

I think this thread has run its course....

Impressive list!
Seems like a handful of kids are getting into the T20 schools? You can get EA to multiple schools, right?
Anonymous
Yes for EA you can. Some athletes can and do have multiple offers from Ivy's. So it isn't necessarily ED for them. Their applications are handled a bit differently.

I do not believe this is a sincere post.

If you actually carefully review the data, that’s not the case at all, it’s more than a handful of children.

What isn't sincere? It is the truth for our family and others. It ended up being the perfect school. I have no complaints - other than tuition! But that would be anywhere, I am not a fan of the new head of the school. He is just blah, full of himself and not very bright.

100% agree. And he inherited the easiest job because of the previous Head and Covid. He could not have asked for a better situation. The school is in a better position for acceptances but you can see from this thread that the desperation to be a "Sidwell" is not gonna happen. And many families are okay with that.

What really matters is that Bullis has a way inferior ranking on Niche compared to Basis McLean.

I don’t think that’s accurate.
