Who gaf? I was abused as a child. Guess what I don't do? Yup, I don't abuse children.

This!!

If we don’t investigate the motives, backgrounds or rehabilitation of child abusers, children will continue to be abused.

Frankly, this is one of those issues were it isn’t socially acceptable to show up to your physician and say “I have a desire to abuse children.”

The recidivism rate for sex offenders is extremely high. There is only one cure: the death penalty. I bet that will be a deterrant for many of these sickos. The rest can rot in hell.

That’s due to the justice system & lack of evidence-based punishment, not due to the offenders themselves.

You should be able to go to your PCP or psychiatrist & say “I have a desire to harm children” or “I have pedophilic urges” and receive treatment for the mental health issue that it is.

I think it's due to the perpetrators getting their rocks off by raping people. The only way to permanently stop them is death.

Stop making excuses because she's a wealthy, attractive, white woman just like you. This could be your best friend, your neighbor, your child's coach. She is a disgusting piece of shit who needs to rot in jail. I hope her ex husband had nothing to do with abuse, and that her children get help, and that the children that she has most definitely already abused are identified and given the resources they need.

DP. How is saying that she was probably abused herself an excuse? I assume anyone who is caught abusing someone probably has a history of being abused. It’s generally how it works. It doesn’t excuse the person’s behavior at all. It just highlights the fact that one of the many horrors of abuse is that it tends to create new perpetrators. That is one of my biggest fears about my own children being victimized… that it would lead them to become an abuser some day.

No one is saying the majority of abuse victims become abusers themselves. But it’s a fact that abusers often were victims when they were younger.

The truth is that you don’t get through her education path if you’re a pedophile.

the problem being for an urge/obsession/addiction is that if you 'slip" the only person being harmed is you-say if your addiction is cocaine..but if you are addicted to things that harm others then there is no TX that can guarantee 100 percent success..so you should definitely not be around others.....that is reality

In my experience people do say that about men. And they’re right.

She engaged with UC, so, she did.

UC?

Undercover FBI, read the thread

But who tipped off the FBI to go on a fetish website in the first place?

She must have doing it for a while to get on someone or the FBIs radar.

For people who knew her IRL, how did she seem? Her eyes creep me out. Was she a narcissist? An alcoholic? Clearly unhinged and diabolical?

You're right, you go through it if you're rich. Most rich people don't get caught, but she did. Thank god.

I don't think you know how this works. The FBI finds a website, lurks for a while, finds someone to target and boom, lure them in and catches them. It's not a years long process.

She likely was doing it for a while. But she engaged with an undercover officer on a fetish website, that is how she got on their radar.

We humans like to identify patterns of behavior, so that we can explain and predict behavior based on patterns. This helps us feel safer and make sense of things that are outrageous and heartbreaking (like school shootings and child sex abuse). Criminal psychology experts know the patterns, and the layperson with some life experience knows some patterns too. The classic one is a male who as a child was abused by a male, and as an adult goes on to abuse boys, creating chains of man-on-boy abuse.

I appreciate the PP pages back who noted "elite deviance," that there is a pattern seen in cases involving elite people, that the elites felt more freer to do deviant acts. This was new to me, and I am glad to know another pattern. The pattern helps me compensate, feel calm in the face of this horror (I'm not friends with anyone that elite!)

We figure that the school shooting would not happen at our child's school. We figure that the upstanding seeming family is safe for a sleepover. Then another school shooting happens, or you find out someone you'd never expect is a predator, and it turns you upside down!

The crimes committed by this woman are so horrific, and I think it's made more shocking because we don't know what to make of it. Like, why??? Trying to make it make some kind of sense of it is normal and even useful. Maybe she was abused herself (this is NO excuse, but still useful to know!) Or maybe she has a personality disorder, is psychopathic, off her meds. None of these are mitigating at all to me, I just like to know how to account for unbelievable things. I do not want to make excuses for anyone, especially not this monster. I want criminal psych explanations and a pattern though. I have never been satisfied by explanation of "evil." Evil is evil, it exists here in this crazy story and evil also exists in everyday crimes that hurt. Evil, as an explanation, isn't useful.

This is so incredibly sick. I feel like I’m going to vomit. She and her kind all deserve a painful death. The things she said she wanted to do to an 8 yr old girl in the complaint. Omfg.
