DP. How is saying that she was probably abused herself an excuse? I assume anyone who is caught abusing someone probably has a history of being abused. It’s generally how it works. It doesn’t excuse the person’s behavior at all. It just highlights the fact that one of the many horrors of abuse is that it tends to create new perpetrators. That is one of my biggest fears about my own children being victimized… that it would lead them to become an abuser some day.

No one is saying the majority of abuse victims become abusers themselves. But it’s a fact that abusers often were victims when they were younger. [/quote]
