FCPS statement on NMF issue

And guess what FCPS celebrated/notified everyone who was commended and semifinalist. FCPS could handle the task back then. Today, with all the technology, they can’t manage. Ridiculous.

Bingo. A constant stream of excuses as to why recognizing and rewarding merit is too big a chore for them to handle on a timely basis. But throw a ball through a hoop and you’ll get constant attention from all the higher-up’s.

This whole thread is like a subtle endorsement for school choice. The notion that FCPS provide third-party awards to own its own students based on their performance? Preposterous! Why would an entity ostensibly directed to educating students provide those students with an award indicating that they were indeed educated? While FCPS could have apologized as to why it failed to inform its own students of their accomplishments for no apparent reason, the correct course of action was to pay a law firm hundreds of thousands of dollars to show that FCPS just didn't prioritize informing students about their accomplishments (but not for racial reasons, thankfully).

Harry Jackson has entered the chat, ladies and gentlemen. The same grifter who wants your vote for School Board never misses an opportunity to advocate for school choice - which means defunding public education.

Slow your roll, Chief. They had to hire lawyers when the stupid governor’s AJ decided to poke his nose into it and launch an investigation. What was FCPS supposed to do? Just sit there and not defend itself over this contrived non-issue?

Shame on you. Your actions have had a needless, but completely intended, destructive effect on the normal functioning of one of the finest schools and school systems in the country, all to satisfy your thirst for attention and relevance. And then you have the nerve to post on social media belittling the real damage that your crusade has caused to students and teachers who didn’t ask to be included in your nonsense.

Go away.

SO. MUCH. THIS.

Asra and her insane clown posse have stirred up an incredible amount of difficulty for teachers and administrators, between this and the TJ admissions question, and have accomplished literally nothing except the wasting of public dollars. No one’s been fired or even disciplined, two new classes have been seated at TJ with a third coming in the next couple of weeks, and nothing at all has come of any of her “investigations”.

But you know what has happened? She’s doubled her Twitter following and become a regular on Fox News posing as a grassroots parent when she’s actually a paid operative. And she’s made thousands of FCPS employees afraid to properly do their jobs, impacting the lives of countless FCPS students and families.

She is the single worst person in Northern Virginia - and the desperation of her recent communications suggests that she knows it. Her son’s friends certainly do.

PP, I’m giving you a standing ovation. This is so on point. Yes to all of it.

You know who didn’t get attention from the higher-ups? All the teams who had excellent seasons but DIDN’T win the state championship.

You know who did? The kids who DID make it to National Merit Semifinalist status.

Your kid’s outstanding but still runner-up performance ain’t the same as winning states.

Noone was asking for attention from the higher ups. Just to be informed and acknowledged at their own school.

On one of these prior threads, someone was saying very offensive things about Asra Nomani. I was wondering why the moderator wasn't ending the conversation like he would with the Meghan and Harry threads. Well, it turns out he says she's a right-winger. Does that permit someone to say offensive things about a woman using sexual language? Even if you disagree with someone, allowing someone to denigrate someone using sexual language IS NOT APPROPRIATE. What a huge disappointment. The guy who runs this site is a left-wing misogynist!?!?!? Wonderful.

With regard to the administrator's excuse that he didn't know the students weren't directly contacted and that it was a lot of data entry, why didn't he ask someone? Excuses, excuses. And of course, he had to mention that the parents and students in question didn't think it was important, because to people like the moderator dismiss parents and students from schools like that all the time, so what else is new.

As an NYC parent advocate for rigorous accelerated academics in the public schools, I've seen this all before, in particular the demonization of women advocates. Yes, I know Nomani's politics. We won't agree on all issues, but it doesn't matter, because we're adults. Oddly, when I comment on the TJCoalition feed on Twitter, invariably my account gets blocked by multiple login attempts. It only happens when I comment on the TJCoalition feed. What the eff is wrong with you people, really!!?!? Oh, and I'm a card-carrying Democrat who worked for the current President on the Hill.

Did you report the posts? There’s a report button in the corner. If you think that Jeff is reading every post, you’re delusional. If you report it, he will take a look and make a decision. You’re always welcome to post in Website Feedback or give him your address if you want an explanation as to why something wasn’t removed.

No, but next time I will. I've been here since UB shut down and still not familar with all the 1.0 technology. You'd think he'd have some key word alert.

They could have acknowledged that they made a mistake. That would have been cheap and effective. An apology would have been helpful.

One thing is clear: merit and acadmics are not their priority.

+1
So glad my kids are finally almost done with this ridiculous school system, whose only focus is "equity" at all costs. I hope by the time I have grandchildren, school systems will have returned to making academic excellence their priority.

Nope. They're too busy banning books

Seems like they aren’t getting their money’s worth.

You are new here? It’s a common nickname for Trump supporters - male and female - including Youngkin. It isn’t “misogynistic”.

Looks like we found an external agitator trying to stir the pot for Republicans.

And there it is.

This is the end goal for Republicans. They will relentlessly trash TJ/FCPS to “justify” vouchers.

Well said.

It’s disgusting how she’s denigrating TJ/FCPS for her personal gain in MAGA world.
