| Actually they are inanimate words. I would say admin use diversity and equity as abstract tools to fire a teacher or promote a teacher based on words that have no definitive meaning but based on whether they like a teacher enough based on their values. If they inflate grades arbitrarily and are able to be manipulated to having no standard they will be applauded as being equitable. If they don't they can be picked on and pushed out as not fulfilling equity. They are buzzwords to attack teachers and give them no respect, no rights to practice, and no stability to run autonomously as professionals. However we are trusted to do the grade inflation but not trusted to report students with behavior so bad that it ruins the lessons for the students that want to learn. Maybe that is the equity that admin desires. Equally horrendous impossibility of communication for all. Every will be on the same platitude of carelessness. This is called progress and it also relate to dumbing down. |
