I would seriously consider if the aap program is the right fit for your child. Applying for 5th grade admission might be a little tough socially and academically. If you think he needs more of a challenge, why don't you talk to his teacher about receiving local level 3 services at his present school. Good luck either way. |
18:50 whom you are referring? I am the 16:12 poster and our DD(currently 3rd grade) has VCI 138 and FSIQ is 132 along with WJ scores I described but her earlier cogat was 135 composite . I have been told elsewhere that these are very good scores and would definitely win the appeal and because of the bad GBRS score (8) she didn;t make it. So we are crossing our fingers and if appeal didn;t work we are sending our DD to private school.

Looks like you have got it all figured out. And i'm sure if "Sheila from down the street" (some of you will get this from that snl commercial spoof) told you that you would DEFiNITLEY win your appeal, then it's a done deal and you have nothing to worry about. |
Just ignore the ugly remarks. Yes, from what I have been reading with those scores you have a very good chance. We are in the same situation as you and we are wishing you good luck with your appeal. |
00:01 : Thanks.
About 23:45 - You comments really heart people who are sincerely looking for help or advice in this forum. Hope you don't heart others again. |
Give me a break. You were not looking for help or advice, just some anonymous idiot to blow smoke up your ass. You already said you thought you were basically guaranteed to win your appeal, so why are you here rubbing it in other people's faces. Grow up!
You're a pretentious harpy who even said if you don't get your way on appeal you are sending your little darling to private school...how many people on this board do you think have that option? I hope some nameless person calling you out didn't "heart" you too bad. I save my support for people who really need it. |
This is for 7:20: I am not sure what kind of human being you are. Definitely you don't deserve a place in this forum. I can use bad language too but I don't want this forum get spoiled or distracted. Hope we are done here.

143 on WJ Broad Math is pretty high, did your DD have a similar high PRI on WISC? |
Hi 7:20 has been around for awhile. The best thing to do is just ignore them and look for feedback you respect. I don't read their posts any longer because they are meaningless.I hope you all stick around so we can continue to discuss the process we are going through.Calm and good thoughts to all. |
When are you sending your appeal letters in? Are you waiting until we get closer to the 1 or are you sending it in now? |
What is the Woodcock Johnson test? Does it test general knowledge or is it more along the lines of another IQ test? Thanks for any iinput. |
WJ-III has Cognitive test(IQ) and Achievement test. The latter tests the knowledge in reading, math, writing and sometimes oral language. It's pretty common that people may choose IQ/Achievement tests together to see where the child is capable of doing (IQ) and how much he/she has achieved(Achievement). For IQ testing(especially for educational purpose), WJ-III Cognitive testing is not as popular as WISC. But WJ-III Achivement and another one WIAT (now the third version came out) are very popular achievement tests that have high age ceilings(up to adult and beyond). |
Answer to 09:49 : PRI ia 123 and VCI is 138 |
Thanks for sharing the scores. Interesting that her verbal/noverbal on WISC and WJ are kind of reversed, though both are pretty good. I wonder if she's more interested in math more than in language arts? With her high VCI and high Broad math, personally I don't see any problems for you to win the appeal. Though I'm no expert at all, I think she deserves a spot in AAP. |
For 10:28: Thank You very much. Yes she is pretty strong in math than language arts and we will update this forum once we hear from the appeal committee. |
