Mars Attacks is a treasure. You need to watch it again. |
Dear God that movie was awful. |

This article (with lots of spoilers) makes a really good point about Don't Look Up. That it's not simplistic and makes a really good diagnosis and prescription for the potentially fatal reality facing us.

Preachy? It’s satire. |
It’s satire leaning so far left it’s falling over. To anyone else it’s preachy. |
Is it really leaning left though? Seems pretty dead on. |
LOL That is a Newsweek opinion! You can pull up all kinds of reviews, but the actual source (writers, producers, actors) never stated that in anyway. Other reviews said it could be a mix of Clinton, Trump, etc. It's all projection. |
If anything they really went after the media and Tech moguls who are mostly left. It had potential, but dropped off pretty fast in the first half hour. |
Tell me you didn’t watch it without telling me you didn’t watch it. |

I agree with the alleged sources of satirical inspiration for each character proposed here - what do you think?
Also The ripping on social media culture was gold. https://screenrant.com/dont-look-up-characters-real-people-true-story/ Kate Dibiasky played by Jennifer Laurence — Greta Thunberg Peter Isherwell played by Mark Rylance— Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, & Mark Zuckerberg President Janie Orlean played by Meryl Streep — Donald Trump Jason Orlean played by Jonah Hill — The Trump Children Brie Evantee played by Cate Blanchet And Jack Bremmer played by Tyler Perry — Morning Talk Shows & The New York Times Riley Mina played by Ariana Grande — Ariana Grande |
Yes it slammed libs and conservatives across the board. I read the president may have also been a cross of former presidents. Everyone can only guess because the producers haven't said. Except it is a satire on the environment. |
Most important it could have been good, but basically it sucked big time. Time to move on... |
|
Too much emphasis on Trump (and I am not a trumper) took away from its aspiration to become an all time movie.
The phenomena they showed are typical for any and all administrations to some extent. They went too far, the allusions became too recognizable- but maybe they did it out of fear of becoming too realistic and offending the current administration? |
|
I loved it.
Making fun of Big Tech, Mass Media, Clickbait, Politicians, and lack of common sense. Way to go! |
The Biden & Hunter show was hilarious. Anything for party votes. Only thing not realist was China would have already blown it up while American politicians pathetically played politics and $$$ kickbacks. |
