The director thinks Dems and Reps have done poorly for many years. Her character wasn't Trump, but with the smoking (Obama), a woman (Hillary) and other clues shows Streep plays a mix of leaders we had over the years. The director wanted to convey how ALL presidents/politicians have been liars for the most part.

Exactly. Which anyone with a sense of nuance understood - obviously, the liberals here don’t grasp nuance. |
| I absolutely hate Cate Blanchett’s American accent. It’s the same affected Katharine Hepburn-esque accent she uses for all her American roles. So grating. |
Oooh good catch! |
Another Easter egg… |
NP, so you mean ... a picture like this one?
|
The only similarity is that they both have vaginas. Palin, however, has a lot in common with Streep's character... |
| I thought it was incredible and hysterical. I truly and honestly don’t understand how you could think it was boring and unfunny. To each their own and I’m not going to argue that you didn’t get it or anything, I respect that it’s not for everyone. But I loved it. |
+1 I absolutely loved the movie and laughed all the way through. The rest of the family, on the other hand, did share my enthusiasm. It's amazing how polarizing the film is. It seems worth a watch just for the line in the song: Look up, what he's really trying to say Is get your head out of your ass Listen to the goddamn qualified scientists So damn funny. |
Despite Streep wearing a red suit in the scene, the director will not reveal whether her character is a Republican or Democrat in the film. "I don't think either party has much to be proud about over the last 40 years," says McKay. https://ew.com/movies/dont-look-up-oval-office-scene-leonardo-dicaprio-meryl-streep-jennifer-lawrence/ |
She’s obviously a Palin/Trump love child. |
| You’re welcome to believe whatever you want. I’ll take the director’s word for it. |
His word? He wouldn’t reveal. On the Oval Office: "It's a good stage for the insane carnival ride that has been modern political life” And Trump is the ultimate clown. |

Hill & Streep modeled their relationship on Trump & his daughter.

“ But Hill also cited some real-life inspiration for the president/offspring dynamic he and Streep created for their characters. “At the time,” he said, “there was a political figure who I won't name who perhaps had an inappropriate sexualization of their daughter. Right? So I was like Meryl, I have this idea, let’s try it out and see what the bond is.”” |

Washington Examiner butthurt over obvious Trump influence.
https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/dont-look-up-another-lazy-anti-trump-movie?_amp=true “Meryl Streep stars as Trump stand-in President Orlean, with Jonah Hill as her son and chief of staff, a cross between Ivanka and Don Jr. “ |
