Montgomery County Vaccine Passport Coming

Anonymous
From the link above:

• Effective March 1: proof of all doses (excluding boosters) required for patrons 5 years-and-one month and older.

It would mean kids included, starting March 1.

Then what, boosters required starting November 1 for kids age 5-11?

This is pure insanity. The shot is still EUA for kids age 5-11. And MoCo wants to pass a vaccine passport for them?

This is certifiably insane given the profile of this disease top to bottom.

Looks like I’m heading to Frederick for shopping and restaurants. What is wrong with our politicians?

Drunk on power

That article is nearly a month old. I highly doubt a vaccine passport will pass.

Was in the news yesterday. Very much still under consideration and very likely to pass, IMO. Though, I am opposed.

Business owners aren't behind the mandate because it isn't regional and patrons won't have to travel far to avoid it. The council also plans to have community input and we all know how that will go. As it is proposed, the mandate will not pass.

You would think! But how did it manage to pass in DC?

There was an info meeting about the DC vaccine passport yesterday. They said it’ll continue even when the weather warms up. And that businesses have to check for the card every time a person enters (versus just allowing some ‘regulars’ to show the card once and move on).

This area has gone insane.

I got a notice from my kid’s elementary school saying I need to send proof of vaccine in to my kid’s home room teacher.

Tell her you will, just as soon as every teacher and staffer at the school sends you proof of theirs.

So I can ask my server to show me his vax card every time he comes to our table?

Supreme Court just struck down the OSHA mandate. Puts any place with a mandate at a higher risk for lawsuits. But they are so very stupid in MoCo. This will really kill businesses as many parents aren’t getting their kids vaccinated due to safety concerns.

The DC area has held up very well against omicron. The reproductive rate has already started to decline and we should see new infections dropping maybe next week.

There is NO justification for a vaccine passport. None.

My family and I are fully vaccinated, but I have no desire to "show my papers" in order to eat at a restaurant. It is none of their &*% business. When we eat out, it will be in Virginia, just 5 minutes away. We might even move there. It is no wonder Northern Virginia keeps winning businesses away from MoCo.

I would have hoped someone would call out the reason Elrich believes MoCo needs vaccine passports, but it is unsurprising that local media overlooks democrats being racist.

“ Elrich said he was concerned that if the county did not introduce similar legislation to D.C.’s vaccine requirement, it would create an incentive for unvaccinated people from the District to come to the county to eat and drink, thus posing a risk to the county.

https://wtop.com/montgomery-county/2021/12/montgomery-co-exec-to-introduce-vaccine-requirement-proposal-for-bars-restaurants-to-council/

And anyone with half a brain knows what he is referring to. Surprised he didn’t throw in PG disease riddled citizens to boot.

This bad policy next door will have some impact on us. Let’s also pass that bad policy.

Same here. All vaxxed (and all got covid 4 weeks ago) and won’t be showing any papers when we go out to eat. But we’re staying here in MoCo - we’re just not complying with this BS.

We’ll politely say “no thank you”, and then asked to be shown to our table. They asked, we refused. They did their part. They fulfilled their compliance with the rule. At that point, they can either make the decision to accept our money, or take the extra, uncompensated step of enforcing county ordinances for free, at the expense of customers.

Their choice.

Everyone on this thread who is opposed to vaccine passport, please write the county council and let them know. They need to hear that the residents don't want this as many of them have already publicly stated that they support the passport.

I’m happy to send an email. Any suggestions as who would be the most effective to email?

If anyone knows of someone who might be more receptive to opposing the vaccine mandate, I would love to hear it.
