Seriously, I don't know if PP has met any MCPS teenagers but I have and my experience has been to be blown away by how smart and thoughtful they are. If anything students should have a larger voice. |
There are very smart and thoughtful middle schoolers too. |
Teenagers are the ones in school. They know what they need to succeed. A bunch of out of touch, lunatic parents know far less about student needs but go off. |
Most of the people complaining seem mentally unbalanced. |
Of course, every 15 year old knows it all. I did too, when I was 15! |
Are you a teenager? |
My mom forced me to take a typing class as a freshman. I was a “smart and thoughtful” teen who felt it was a waste of an elective. She won the argument and I took the class under protest. She was right. It was one of the most useful classes I ever took and I have thanked her many times over the years. |
Cool story. Adults on the other hand are never wrong about anything. |
I mean, yes. But also no. Teenagers don't know everything, but neither do they know nothing. PP's idea that we shouldn't listen to students is pure foolishness, and I wonder whether the PP has even met a teenager lately. |
You're kidding, right? - High school teacher |

Children, including teenagers, definitely need guidance. Parents need to make sure they're on the right track. Schools are funded either by taxpayer money or directly from the parents/guardians. Schools and school boards need to have accountability.
There is and continues to be outrage about their unilateral decisions that greatly affect parents/guardians and students. Decisions like school closures and quarantines based on questionable data. There will be repercussions. |
MCPS estimates the extra closures to cost $850,000. Such a waste. Students need to be in school and administrators need to work towards filling vacancies. MCPS and the Board of Education are a disgrace. |
| It seems like the posters in this thread are very out of touch with the mainstream since 90% of these folks win reelection by a landslide. |
Mainstream what? |
The mainstream of voter sentiment, perhaps? |
