LOL, there’s no way DeSantis will actually forego $19 billion in funding for Florida.

Funny how facts get in the way of the Republican narrative.

Actually 58% opposed it when asked this question according to a Harris/Harvard poll recently: "Do you favor or oppose a $1.5 to $2 trillion dollar social
spending bill that would be financed by increasing the deficit and tax increases?"

You know damn well that lying a-hole Republicans like DeSantis will be there at those ribbon cuttings for the infrastructure projects that they opposed Democrats on, pretending it was their idea and they supported it all along.

That poll question just talked about how much it costs, not what’s actually in it that benefits people.

If a poll asked you whether you wanted Montgomery County to take $2.68 billion dollars via property and income taxes from residents you would probably say no, right? If they didn’t mention that that money was going to be used for public schools?

With the Obama stimulus, the Loony Republican Governors took everything 100% federal with no matching funds requirement and programs with 25% or less match requirements if the Governor and/or his cronies controlled the allocation and distribution through the Republican patronage network. They turned down money with matching requirements if it went straight to people or businesses without passing through the patronage network.

Are the solar panels and wind turbines going to be made here in the U.S. ?

If they are purchased by the federal government, there is a Buy American preference, with exceptions if a foreign-made product is higher quality or equivalent quality at lower price (after shipping costs, tariffs, etc.). It’s better to get the best stuff than to go cheap or lesser quality. If Texas had wind turbines from Denmark or Scotland they wouldn’t freeze, for example.

They already are, but yes, that is the point. To boost US manufacturing capacity for the 21st century.

What about the Social Bill? Will they pass it?

This is fine for wealthy folks who don’t need no help but what about the rest of us

Is this a serious question? For years the Democrats have been putting forth green energy proposals that would bring alternative energy technology manufacturing to parts of the country that have seen their industries completely dry up, to bring good jobs to impoverished areas that desperately need them. And now you’re asking about US-based manufacturing? Did you just start paying attention yesterday?

You know nothing about how this works. The vast majority of solar panels sold in the US are Chinese-made components that are slapped together in the US, along with a “Made in the US” label. The Obama stimulus bill effectively put almost all US solar manufacturers out of business by attracting the cheap Chinese product assembly plants. One of the few remaining manufacturers said that the Obama Administration couldn’t have done a better job putting the US industry out of business if they had tried.

Further, the issue with wind turbines freezing in Texas has nothing to do with place of manufacture or quality. A wind turbine that has been insulated for the North Sea wouldn’t freeze in the once in a 100-years freakishly cold winter, but it would absolutely fail to operate in the heat of an average Texas summer.
