Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act has passed!

But instead of reining in the caucus then, Biden and Pelosi cut the progressives and moderates too much slack -- allowing this damaging and unnecessary political debacle to take place. Sure, the infrastructure bill passed, but only because enough GOP members hopped on board. The division between moderates and progressives is still there.

The jury is still out on the budget reconciliation bill, which still has several hurdles in front of it -- both in the House and Senate.

The Ds need to get their act together fast. They've already damaged themselves politically as thousands of voters switched to GOP candidates in Virginia and New Jersey this past week.

The Squad would have voted for it if there weren't GOP votes. Don't kid yourself.

No I watched the vote live - only Ayanns Pressley waited til the bill passed with enough votes to down vote it. The Squad is worse than a GOP - they will kill a package with broad party support which hasn’t been seen in decades because it doesn’t have their toys in it. Not only are they unable to get any legislation passed (check their voting history) they’re dangerous because they’re willing to hold up GOOD legislation for 90 days and still not vote it through.

Cant believe Pelosi folded. This bill guarantees 5 years of work for Trump voting steel and construction workers. Meanwhile the social spending bill is dead.

I mean right? Who needs voters happy in Michigan or Pennsylvania

150 GOP could have joined with the rank and file Dems to pass it 2 months ago too, but that didn't happen either. Why blame the fringes of either part?

The delay is the fault of the GOP because delaying and outright obstruction are all they have to offer. Someone upthread said this was a panic move from the Democrats because of “the bleeding” (I know someone who only watches right wing propaganda!); this was the GOP finally folding after the elections were done.

I still don’t understand why the rest of the GOP is against this bill. The other one I understand.

Yes you do. It's because it gives a win to Democrats. That's it. That's why.

Can we talk about the squad? I don't even know what to say other than, shaking my head, disappointed at them. It feels so self-defeating, what they are doing. If they want to be activists, get the heck out of Congress and go be organizers. If you're in Congress, it's because you are there to work on legislation.

And the GOP’s failure to get in line with what America wants - both bills, that is - is, what? “Boys will be boys”?

I think the squad had a wake up call when Youngkin won. I suspect the party leaders have been lecturing the squad and potentially making deals to get them to fall in line.

Fun fact: The dems did better on Tuesday's election than any other first year post-presidential election in generations. Yes, they "lost" Virginia, but they did really well otherwise. THAT isn't how things are being reported.

The GOP - men and women - is the only reason it passed. Compromise. Which the Squad failed to do and has failed to do for three years in office which is why their social welfare bill is dead as a doornail. They wouldn’t even agree to have a means test of a paltry $2,500/yr in income for the CTC. That is just insane. No one can work with that and clearly they didn’t consider they boxed themselves into a corner with no off-ramp by doing so.

She’s a master legislator. I never thought she could get so many Democrats to vote for the Manchin-McConnell infrastructure bill. This week couldn’t get any better.

Oh, I know. The right wing corporate media is acting as an arm of the GOP; all narratives must support the story that the Democrats are disorganized. Look at how the GOP boobs on this thread are already claiming this as a win for McConnell; that’ll be the “liberal” media’s spin. That this is a win for the Republicans.

In reality, Biden is rubbing the GOP’s face in the dirt.

“America” does not want both bills. Many more people are against the second bill.

I’ve never seen a less intelligent, less qualified group of politicians than the squad. They’ve accomplish absolutely nothing during their tenure and seem to view their jobs as being yammering mouthpieces of the professional protester class. Disgusting losers.

Link?

Because all of the polling I have seen suggests that the provisions in the BBB hve uniform 65-70% support nationwide.

Yes, it is like they are GOP.
