I don't find him appearing it all but I actually don't think his fetish or whatever is that, is that bad. It's more weird and embarrassing than anything.

Are you serious????????????? He went to jail, and may be a risk to their child. Truly a sick man.

Puhlease. He is no risk to anyone and everyone knows it. He is just icky.

Puhleeze yourself. What does a person need to do in your world to show behavior that's a risk to others? You think he's just fine now?

American Muslim here. I have not read Huma’s book. But understand where she comes from. Huma was explicitly not allowed to marry Anthony Weiner unless he converted and thus was and remains in an illegitimate relationship in the eyes of her family and the community she comes from. She did cross that threshold which takes a lot. You can roll your eyes at this, but I’m just explaining the background and nuance on how she gave up a lot including how her community views her son to be with Anthony Weiner and that is why she stuck to him for much longer than she should have.

She was also clearly enamored by the public political life of the Clintons and wanted that very badly for herself, literally giving up the tenants she was raised by to be with Weiner. She also didn’t have many choices in a romantic partner. Islamophobia is real and there are not many Muslim politicians period let alone congressmen in that period and there were almost no Muslims besides Huma that worked behind the scenes at that time.

Muslim American woman here. Huma's weakness seems to be her romantic naivete and her thirst for power or being around powerful people.

Interesting....Weiner seemed emotionally young and naive/goofy with female attention too so maybe despite their travels in high political circles and both looking sophisticated, they were both sort of arrested or very young emotionally. Both may have been adolescent in that way. Interesting idea...he admitted he was a goofy kid and was overwhelmed by the female attention he received during his campaign run no?

Even if he's "just icky", women need to stop marrying and breeding with men like this. Who wants dweeby, ugly, icky children?

Abedin discloses for the first time in her new book that Weiner’s infidelity went beyond the X-rated texts he sent and received from various women, the interview reveals.

“I know it’s hard for you to say it, but you found that he was having physical relationships in your apartment?” O’Donnell asked, prompting Abedin to respond with a simple, “Yes.”

I would be surprised if he didn't physically cheat on her. He was way too involved in sexting to not be meeting at least one of them in person.

It doesn't surprises me, what surprises me is that no one leaked that they slept with Wiener. I mean...everything else was from texts to sexts to messages.

I wouldn't boast about sleeping with him and there isn't much to gain. He is a disgraced politician with no significant income stream and a registered sex offender. I would be embarrassed to of had a relationship with him. Huma must of been absolutely mortified and outraged as both a wife and mother to see her husband take a picture of his crotch with their sleeping child in bed next to him.

He had a ton of issues obviously but I suspect privately he could be fun and cute and charming/attentive. I don't think he came off as a loser....more like your typical intense, hot-headed new Yorker

I feel like I can say this because I grew up outside of New York. He is a familiar type of character there and in nj, that's all I meant.

I am especially fascinated by the comments from Muslim/Pakistani posters- thank you for sharing your perspectives.

The "is she attractive?" discussion is indeed superficial, but interesting to me. I think that Huma is very beautiful!
I am a first-gen Greek-American, and in my experience I don't find agree when my non-Greek friends find certain Greek women (and men) attractive. I just don't see it.
I wonder if there is a more general phenomenon, of divergence in the attractiveness judgments of in-group and out-group members?

It's true she would not have many options in the desi community (especially not now!) but there are many options outside of the community. Her chances for the second non-desi husband are not affected by the Wiener debacle.

I think she could marry a desi this time because her boss is not traveling all the time anymore. But she is power hungry more than anything so I doubt she will find someone that easily.

She is many things but down to earth she is not. She wants a glamourous life married to a well connected and powerful man. Her best bet is to marry someone white and in the Democratic circle.

Of course! There are standard norms of beauty in all cultures and they are evolving all the time. I used to hate my thick eyebrows as a teen. I was even mocked and now they are quite fashionable and make me look youthful.

Except that train has left the station. Hillary Clinton will never be President. The center of power has shifted to the Obamas and Biden’s.

They are both not good looking. He’s just plain ugly but their kids is pretty cute. Isn’t there how it always works out?

As a Pakistani American, I can tell you in our community she would not be considered especially attractive. She is too tall, too skinny and her face is too narrow.

We think this is beautiful:
